The first part is different from what you posted elsewhere a long time ago. You moved?
Well the second part is very much the same with small amends.

As for advancing to Member, it all depends on posting quality AND being noticed by mods. Posting in the introduction thread or the entrance hall in your own thread helps I think. So does joining a PBM (as you need to be a member to vote) where the reigning mod tends to make you a member rather instantly if you are committed.

I made the mistake of not doing any of the above besides quality posts. It took some 350 or so posts (20 posts a day) in the Citadel buglist and Citadel in general to get to Member. I guess it could also be attributed to there being a HoF thingy going on about a week after I joined and they didn't want new members eligible for it or so
