"Remember me" problems

After I got a 2 point warning (not saying its the cause, just telling story from beggining to very short end) I tried to reply to the mod that gave me it, but it said "remember to click remember me. that just fixes your cookie" over and over. I signed out several times, clicked remember me and it still said to contact a forum administrator and I tried but guess what came up again ...

Over and over I got this message. No posting, no PM'ing, not able to use control panel properly. In fact I dont even know how I got to post this thread when I tried doing that before. This "click remember me" keeps coming up and until now I had no way to communicate with anyone here. I'm still able to view threads though.

So I'll take the 2 point warning even.. (if you think this is just a scheme to remove warnings you're wrong) as long as I'm still able to come to the Org normally without that "remember to click remember me. that just fixes your cookie" again!!

Clear all the private data (cache, cookies, passwords, history) from your browser exit restart and try again. If that fails check that your browser is accepting cookies from the .org. If you're using IE to access the net then download either Mozilla Firefox or Opera and try one of those. If you're already using one of the latter two then try one of the others or test to see if you can log in from IE.

It may be caused by the cache, it's not set in the board to be that way.

Now you say, I.E. is one of the browsers I use. A few weeks ago it logged me out of the org after some time (all other vb forums still work normally). Are there any other IE users experiencing problems?

I had similar problem on another site and was advised to clear all cookies totally from browser, then try again, which worked for me.....

FYI: Deleting cookies in Firefox can result in blocking cookies for that site.

From what I can tell that feature has been gone since V2.0 or perhaps earlier. I thought it was a useful feature as well.

Huh? I use it all the time. But your post irritated me, so I googled. It seems that several functions concerning cookies have changed but you can still block cookies for specific sites if you use the cookie manager.
In the Options or preferences menu, privacy tab, show cookies. If you delete one from the list and check the box "block in the future" it should work. Sorry, I've translated this on the fly without even having Firefox installed on this machine.

This doesn't work for me and I'm using the latest versions both for Linux and Windows. When I delete a cookie it just vanishes instantly and doesn't get added to the exceptions list. The only way I can block a cookie is to add it manually. Previous to this in older versions I would always periodically check for adware and spyware cookies and delete them, this would also blook them as I'd have the option checked to do this.

-Edit: Just tested this by deleting the .org cookies and then reloaded the page, logged out, logged back in and is ok. Checked exceptions and isn't listed and checked in show cookies and the .org's cookies are set again. So it definitely doesn't seem to work. I've been through the options and have found nothing. The next stage is to have a look in about:config to see if there's anything in there, but I doubt it somehow.

This is how it works for me:
Options/Privacy/Show Cookies ->delete cookie (no options available here)
open Options/Privacy/Exceptions -> find the deleted cookie in the blocklist

This Firefox 2.0.0.11 on WinXP SP2. I haven't done anything in about:config for the last 3-4 updates.

I have been affiliated (wrongly accused) with mrdun who is demoted (and seems to be kicking up a storm about it in the Enterence Hall, I dare not go there) probably for being affiliated with me. Now I have to wait 100 seconds between each post and have warning points.

Also, I thought IE regularly deleted all cookies periodically. Say after a month or something.
