I'd like to participate but I seem a little late, plus the fact I don't know much about any of the teams. But I do enjoying watching the games.

Boy did Italy get pwned. If they aren't the gamemakers everything falls apart.

They always have been, even in games they lost.

Remember the Italians have a harrowing soccer season, never a day's rest, and every day brings a new scandal as well.. Not the best of preparations.

But they have four days to go until Romania. All they have to do in that game is set up Del Piero, who has quicksilver feet and can shoot at goal from any position as we saw yesterday, make 2:1 and they're back in the tournament. I'd hate to see them drop out so soon.

They were expecting an easy match yesterday, comming up: the real Italy. This was great fun but we all know the dutch team is the football equivalent of a manic depression.

Right the moment you are given the pass, you can avoid offside if you move off the pitch, regarding that you are the attacking player.

Same applies in a bitter way for the defensive side. You can't trap the opponent in offside by moving off the pitch.

No @#%&, you guys whooped it up until real late last night. The guys outside my hotel room were "active" until about 1AM. That was a good game to watch though, even though A> I don't care for sports and B> the entire broadcast was in Nederlands. I keep hearing you soccer types say how France and Italy are both "powerhouses", but both of their first games were decidedly lackluster, can't say I am impressed either of them. The Italians did lay on some heavy pressure the 2nd half of the game, from what I could tell.

Right, my choices for tomorrow (Wednesday):

    Match Day 5:

    Czech Republic 1-2 Portugal

    Switzerland 1-0 Turkey

Czech Republic - Portugal is the game where one or other team has to step up if they're gonna get much further in this tournament, both had disappointing opening games but the Czechs looked worse and really shouldn't have won against the Swiss. As for the other game, Switzerland looked energetic on Saturday and the home crowd should be enough of a boost to overcome Turkey.

Don't be a party pooper! Heyyyy..ho hop hop! Dans le *** les Ritals! Et un et deux et trois zéro!!

And there can be no excuses! The English have a harrowing football season without a day's rest too, and they haven't lost a single match at this tournament so far. And as for scandals...there's always a scandal in Italy. They're used to it, it's natural. They cope with it the way Russians cope with snow and fish cope with water.
Nope, Orange simply cut through the Italian ranks like a knife through soggy spaghetti.

Erm, yes. In fact I'd even go so far as to predict that our defence will not concede a single goal all tournament. And we definitely won't be going out on penalties this time.

You should join in....It should be fine i think (though Quintus is really the right person to give the go ahead )... Everyone has a headstart on you... I would say go ahead and make your predictions for today's games before they start... you have about 20 mins before the first game starts....

Sure, you can join in now. The same goes for all the others wanting to participate, the opportunity officially closes after the group stages.

    Table updated.

Pure negative football from the Greeks. I mean passing around the 3 centre halves just isn’t the way to go, especially as defending champions… Spain did very well, although I still don’t think it’s gonna be their year.

Emre is injured, out of the match squad for tomorrow's clash. Very likely that Arda will be replacing him.

That makes either Tuncay keeping his position in the left wing or Uğur Boral replacing him.

As our coach said today: "For us, torunament is kicking off tomorrow".

    Matchday 5 Prediction

    Czech Republic 0-2 Portugal (1800)

[Can't see the Czechs improving greatly, as they've been playing the same kind of football for a while
now. Portugal should have far too much for them, despite their reasonably solid defence.]

    Switzerland 1-2 Turkey (2045)

[Hoping this one'll be a bit feisty, thanks to the infamous World Cup qualifiers. I think the Swiss chance
died in the first game when Frei limped off the pitch and the luck failed to go with them. Even with key
Turks out, I can't see anything more than a consolation goal for them.]
