    Looks at his own age...

Yes, it is old, Savvas. We're at least halfway through our lives. On our way to the great beyond, that black void of nothingness.... to be ultimately forgotten.

The only immortality is memory, and even that fades in time.

Yea, I checked my name out beforehand, and it's actually Greek for Jacob, which will play a little on in my character in the near future. I must say though, what the heck does "Kallipoleos" mean? It seems related to Cyprus...it must be me, but my character seems full of odd coincidences...

Reminds me of Gallipoli. Combined with the ek it could mean Gallipolian.

what's funny is that I wrote Makedonios as being "tall" without knowing what the name meant. I also gave him his habit of drinking mint tea before discovering that mint is huge on Cyprus.

I see, well, that seems to clear things up, since I could only ever find "Kallipoleos" connected to a University in Cyprus , still even that works into my character. At least your not alone in it PK, of course, the mint thing really is kinda intriguing , what motivated it in the first place?

I personally love mint. Spearmint, peppermint, ect... In the Hippodrome, I just wrote it in for fun. Then when I was researching Cyprus cuisine for our story, I read that mint is put into just about everything because the plant grows so well on the island.

So Pavlos means "small", maybe that's why he's so disgruntled all the time.

What's funny about your avatar's name Ituralde is that it translates almost exactly as Paul Goldsmith... not very Byzantine, if you ask me

If fact Chryso means Gold and Ourgos means Smith so I surmised that it was a variant of the same Vergos=Ourgos...

Yes, Ramses or find somebody with enough fluency in Ancient Greek to derive meaning from your name, if there is some meaning to be found...

Ah, googling the name, why didnt I think of that.

    According to these sources:
    http://www.stlukeorthodox.com/html/i...otherofgod.cfm
    http://www.holytrinityorthodox.com/c...ober/09-06.htm

Pavlos will get on the family tree, get a son named Oscar, who gets a son named Luke Chrysovergos who will become Emperor and Patriarch of the Greeks!

Strange links those up there too. Couldn't find an Emperor Luke anywhere else, ah well. Just have to alter history I guess. Yeah, because we're strictly following history, that's what we do here...

    Nice list!

So, I have "ressurected" uh? I wonder how I can tie that in a story, especially with Anastasios meaning "ressurection"...

A part from that, it was interesting reading what most of the character's name meant, gives a new perspective.

Then how does that jive with Anastasios's "resurrection"?

Honestly I don't see what the big deal is. Looks pretty full of life to me. I'd say it's a very successful resurrection.

Yes, Anna does indeed raise everyone's "moral"...

    *edit*

That is meant to read "morale" but I'll leave the originally sentence as is so the following posts make more sense.
