    Red face The not-so-quiet Earth

So apparently science has decided to crush my wistful imagination and dreams of the earth speeding silently and majestically through the cosmos. Instead of being silent, the earth apparently screams and chirps in an earsplitting manner as it rips its way through space in tormented agony. It's a little bit creepy to be honest. The only thing that I can think of that's downright made my skin crawl even more than this is the recording of the 2004 earthquake that spawned the tsunami that killed 250k+ people in southeast Asia.

Perhaps this will scare off the octosquids and their klingon allies before they try to make "first contact" with us.

Well strictly speaking it's the ionosphere screaming.

.... and in space no-one can hear you scream

But more seriously it's amazing what happens when a magnetosphere, an ionosophere and a solar wind walk into a bar interact

They have made more than 8 contacts now, But only few are known to civilians.
