Thread: Coolest movie character

  1. #1

    Default Coolest movie character

    Vote in poll.

Not using cool in the general, vaguely positive sense. Was trying to think up the coolest movie character the other night, have a lack of women on the list though and I'm sure I missed more.

Eh, I guess with so many options try to limit voting to 3 at max.

Tyler Durden (one can make all kinds of explosives using simple household items... If one were so inclined), Richard B. Riddick (They kept calling it murder when I did it), and Capt. Nathan Brittles (Don't apologize... it's a sign of weakness).

Indiana Jones, because he's Indiana Jones.
Jack Sparrow because he's the only charecter who jumps into a monster's mouth grinning.
Steve McQueen becuase, well some charecters don't need explaining.

    Honestly, where's Darth Vader?

I picked John McClane, Jack Sparrow, Tyler Durden and Craig's Bond. Only one movie yet, but he already is the coolest Bond I've ever seen.

Srr I've picked four, but Craig had to be in my picks, so did Sparrow and Willis. And Durden's too fun not to choose

You put down the wrong Blues Brother. Shoulda been Jake, not Elwood.

Another one worthy of mention: Paul Newman (for a lot, but especially) in Cool Hand Luke.

    Precisely.

Tyler Durden, because he's just crazy.

John Mclane because he walked on glass and still messed up the terrorists.

And of course The Wolf from Pulp Fiction because he's just a crazy professional who can take care of anything and knows how to clean.

I bet we could make about a bajillion other "coolest character" lists, but this one is pretty darn good. Let's face it there are just too many cool characters in teh movies.

    2) Umma Thurman: doesn't need an explanation now, does it?
    3) Sean Connery: there's only one real James Bond and that's Sean Connery

And my n° 1) is not on the list: Clint Eastwood aka Dirty 'Go ahead, make my day' Harry.

I voted for Tyler Durdan (prefered the narrator), Indian Jones and De Niro not for his role in the Midnight run but as in lots of other films (Travis Bickle, Jimmy Burke, David Aaronson).

There should be an option for others as well, these people came to my mind as memerable characters as well:
    Maximus Decimus Meridius
    Hannibal Lecter
    Hans Gruber
    Travis Bickle

Tyler Durden next, although he's not really a movie character.

Then Jack Sparrow, he's a pirate! Of course he's cool.

I considered Chow Yun-fat for "Hard boiled" and "Crouching tiger". But he's a little petulant in the first and I find the "Wise asian martial arts master" to be a bit overplayed.

Jules's crazed ranting was fun, but he didn't deal that well under pressure and the Wolf had to come and take care of business.

    I voted for

Tyler Durden (his character was written to be the definition of "cool")
Slevin Klevera (supposedly has "ataraxia", a disorder where he never worries about anything...again definition of cool)
    Ferris Bueller:

There is cool. There is the definition of cool. And then there's cool that needs no definition.

And that would be Kyūzō (played by Seiji Miyaguchi) in The Seven Samurai.

Whoops, only voted once; out of these options, I voted for Uma Thurman. I absolutely loved the Kill Bill movies.

Characterization in Lucky Number Slevin or Die Hard is far from deep too, but Darth Vader had his mask and his nice breathing voice. He's the most badass and coolest I know.

Or the Harmonica from Once upon a time in the West, he was so cool. A bit like Slevin actually

Chow Yun-Fat can be considered as one of the greatest actors in Asia. Although he never made it big in Holloywood, some of his Hong Kong films were iconic and changed the Asia cinematic forever. A Better Tomorrow, through his collabration with the director John Woo is probably his greatest work to date and one of the greatest film ever produced in Asian cinematic history.
