I am not someone in disguise,I'm totally newbie ;) but a very experienced total war player. I asked this question seriously...and I'm still not relieved because the helmets on imperial roman legionary do not look like coolus(?) either. I haven't seen them closely though. I mean weren't the legionary in vanilla accurate? If there was variety though I think they were cooler. But realism is very important for me soooo...it won't matter.

lol, the legionary in RTW vanilla are as accurate as the flaming pigs, war dogs, and Roman ninjas.

Well, for one thing they didn't have EB's researchers. For another, the people who have a decent knowledge about ancient history, much less care about it, are only a small part of the gaming community. If CA had taken EB's stance on lorica segmentata, their forums would have been turned into a warzone by Rome fanboys. The people who care about historical accuracy generally don't expect to see it in computer games. The few games that are accurate tend to be niche products. Amongst mainstream games, R:TW is one of the more accurate ones. Few games include chainmail-wearing legionary cohorts.
