And I investigated Sarathos, who had more numbers, corrected versions of our number strings. That gave the original three words you've seen floating around. Sarathos denied all knowledge, so I tried to get him lynched, and PK's cofounded-by-a-Jotun-townie-network got me lynched.

Next game, I'm going to vote for townie network people every turn unless a detective reveals with information on a known mafioso.

    Round 9 Conclusion

Ichigo and Craterus, both leaders of men stood as the last men at Althing. They knew their last hour had come. They had swords in hand and were ready to die a warrior’s death.
A deep rumble came from behind them and as they turned as one, they looked upon two giant and dark creatures. “Greetings Lord mortals”, said the one that appeared as the leader. “I am Vafþrúðnir the wise, leader of Jotun. No need to fear us, we won’t kill you. We have discovered that the faith of white Christ is gaining momentum with your kind. We are not so sure Ragnarok will happen because of this. The faith of you mortals in the Æsir and us, is necessary for Ragnarok to happen. We will therefore charge you with a mission. You need to return to your kingdoms and spread the tale of Althing and the Jotun”. The two Lords looked at each other and wondered at the turn of events.
The other Jotun continued: “You will need to hurry, I am Trym and my patience with you mortals wears thin. I am set upon killing all of you, but Vafþrúðnir is the brains here and he has my ear as of now”. Craterus and Ichigo ran all the way to the beach and entered the smallest longship and set out to sea.

Back on land stood two towering dark shapes. “Was this wise Vafþrúðnir?”asked Trym. Vafþrúðnir watched the ship disappear on the horizon. “I sensed weakness in the Æsir and us when staying here. It might be that this is the break we want to finally annihilate Asgard. If they receive no new warriors, we will outnumber them soon. I am a fan of a fair fight”. The laughter from Trym was hard and the rumbling was heard miles away.

    Congratulations Jotun. You won skilfully.

    General commentary:

    Greeting dear players.

This game was the one I wanted to host last time, but had to cut short in the making.
Some of you might have noticed that the Mafia could stay hidden despite much going on behind the scenes. Some of you put much weight on what I did in the last game as a templet for what you could expect in this game. Yes, I used some of it, but you completely forgot about the townie roles given the Mafia. This was a feature I promised I would perfect in the next game.
I personally don't like too much secret Networking in mafia games. I know that even though the game host forbids it, it will happen. The solution I came up with was to give the mafia water proof alibis, rendering any pro-town network worthless. You were back at the basics. The way mafia games should be played. An informed minority vs. an uninformed majority.
Besides I thought it was more realistic, since the Jotun was hiding in the retinues, to provide them with retinue role PMs

To completely put revealing in public or in private at risk, I engineered semi unique role PMs. take the townies and the war vets:
I made 4 different PMs for these roles each.
Take War Veterans as an example:

    Ver.1
    Human

    [Name]

You are a War Veteran and in the service of the king of [Faction]. You are basically a townie with high Holmgang stats

    Holmgang ability : 3 (WarVeteran) = 3
    Ver.2

    Human

    [Name]

You are a War Veteran and in the service of the king of [Faction]. You are basically a townie with higher Holmgang stats.

    Holmgang ability: 4
    Ver.3

    [Name]

Your role is War Veteran. You serve the King of [faction]. You feel patriotic towards your faction and will rejoice at the other factions misfortune should they be killed either by Holmgang or Jotun. Your duty to your king and the Allthing is to find and promptly execute the Jotun that hides in the King’s retinues during the day phase of the game. During the night phase and starting in round 2, you will be able to show off your skills with the sword and challenge any other player to a Holmgang.

May the Gods be with you.

    Holmgang ability: 5
    Ver.4
    HUMAN

    [Name]

Greetings player. You have received the role of War Veteran and will be hunting the Jotun in this game. Every day you will participate in voting another player out of the game by the form described in the opening post in the game thread.
Every night starting in round 2, you will be able to challenge another player to a duel. If you win such a duel your Duel score will increase by 1 point.
Your King is [name of king not player] and your faction is [faction].

    Good luck.
    Duel score : 4

All in all I was happy with the result.
If game hosts wants no townie networks, just provide the mafia with undercover role PMs and/or write unique roles for all players.

I also put every player except the Christians and the Æsir into a faction.
Some knew about this, others didn't.
Confusion arose when some townies went to Asgard, when others didn't. You will notice that those townies going to Valhalla were from Jomsborg. They were pious men, observing the Norse religion to the letter.

I brought Christianity in as Jotun hunters (see section with the hidden text for details). Among the Christians, I put Yochanan, the lost disciple of Christ. This man called John the beloved in our literature was given the gift of transfiguration from his Saviour to live until the second coming. He experienced the fall of the apostles and the Rome take over. He could not die and had been working in different roles since the writing of Revelations on Patmos in 98 AD. This time we find him as a law speaker at Iceland.
When Christians died they went to heaven and was greeted by St. Peter who always had a heaven joke ready.

Complex games need a lot of work from the Host and I discovered this in this game having to keep track of Holmgangs, upgrades, protections and blocks. I have found new respect for those that host more complex games than this.

The Holmgang system was not too elaborate.
As an update from last game, I forsook my bowl with paper scraps. I incorporated the solution that I had really planed for the first game. Although I didn’t actually build a combat simulator I used random.org and the dice function there.
Basically I used the combat feature from the game Risk. The Holmgang score determined how many dice you could use in the combat, but you couldn’t use more than 3 in each round. The attacker rolled first and the defender second. The highest attacker die vs the highest defender die and then the second highest attacker vs. the second highest defender etc. If one of the pairs were equal, the defender won.

I thank the participants for making this game fun for me as well. I especially thank those who game me links to their behind the scenes networking. It made hosting this game all the more enjoyable.

    Day to day log:

Day to day log for Midgard Saga II.

    Round 1

Odin sends his ravens to Andres and FactionHeir.
Thor places an amulet on the bedrolls of Andres and Privateerkev.
    Loki watches Andres.
    Jotun attacks Twilightblade (LG)
    Yochanan does nothing.

    Twilightblade (Jorvik champion) dies.
    CountArach (Odin) is lynched.
Makaikhaan (Norwegian townie) loses in Holmgang

    Holmgang

    1. GeneralHankerchief (4) vs. Warmaster Horus (3)
    2. woad&fangs (4) vs. Husar (5)
    3. makaikhaan (3) vs. Kukrikhaan (3) (3-1) (3 4 5 vs. 1 5 5 | 1 vs. 3 4)
    4. Caius (2) vs. Andres (6+1)
    5. Eliit Tuhkur (5) vs. Privateerkev (5+1)
    6. pevergreen (3) vs. Kukrikhaan (3)

    Notable happenings:
Andres was quite popular in round 1 being targeted by all the Æsir.
Tratorix and Motep both Kings do not participate in the first round. I hope they realise my strict WoG regime?
All in all, I was pleased with the turn-out in round one. 33 out of 35 possible votes and the players remembered the tie rule.
At one time there was a tie between CountArach and makaikhaan with 5 votes each.
Someone had mistakenly placed Fenring’s vote on Eliit Tuhkur and makaikhaan was publicly listed with 4 votes. GH unvoted makai and CountA was in the lead. Did GH have a personal tally and noticed the tie?
It was probably a little unfair towards CountA as I believe he lives in Australia. I believe they sleep when the deadline of 2000 GMT is close. But that is the privilege of the game host to set a time for deadline that suits him best.
The holmgang between makaikhaan and Kukri released another feature; the ability to climb the ranks. Both Kukri and makai were townies with high townie value. Kukri gaining an extra point stepped into the War Veteran low value. Kukri was therefore upgraded to War Veteran in this round.

    Round 2

Thor places an amulet on the bedrolls of pevergreen and TinCow.
Jotun attacks pevergreen(TinCow) and Caius (LG)
    Loki watches Privateerkev.
    Yochanan does nothing.

    Caius (Danish townie) dies
    Tratorix (Jorvik King) is lynched
FactionHeir (Rus townie) loses in Holmgang

    Holmgang

    1. GeneralHankerchief(4) vs. FactionHeir(3) (3-0)(4 5 3 vs. 3 4 2)
    2. Motep (7) vs. GeneralHankerchief (4)
    3. Andres (6) vs. GeneralHankerchief (4)
    4. Eliit Tuhkur (5) vs. GeneralHankerchief (4)
    5. Quintus.J.Cicero (5) vs. Seamus Fermanagh (6)

    Notable happenings:

TinCow (Vadtrudne) first sends orders to kill Tratorix (King) and Rythmic (King) but later changes them to pever and Caius. Since pever and Tincow had been blessed/cursed by the magic amulets, pever was quite safe in this round. I had in the previous round had a discussion with Gaius about protecting Jotun. I concluded that it would be unnatural for Jotun to be blessed with the same power that kept them from killing on other nights. The Jotun would now be blocked if they received a hammer from Thor. With this new installation Gaius places a hammer with TinCow and I dispatch the block PM. This PM is of course different from the protection PM and TinCow wanting to gain as much trust as possible, made some changes to it and sends it to Ichigo. I did only have the one version of protection PM throughout the game and if someone would have checked, you would have noticed the difference.

The voting became interesting and it soon ended with confusion. I had put in my rules that I would be quite strict when it came to deadlines. Tratorix and Motep, both Kings, alternated at being the leading candidate. They had to reveal. The town didn’t believe them because the PMs were a little different. This was another feature I had put in my game. I wrote many versions of the different role descriptions and used most of them in the game. There were for example 4 different townie pms. I did this so that it would be hazardous to reveal. Don’t say I didn’t tell you so. Do so at your own risk I wrote in the rules, and I meant it. Private reveals could potentially be dangerous as the PMs would not be alike even for the same role.
As the deadline neared and passed, I think CR was in lead. I cut the votes off at 20:00 based on the .org clock and that meant that Tratorix had the most votes at 20:00 GMT.
The Holmgang this round was GeneralH against a number of opponents so the chance of him finally having a go was great. The die came up with a single snake eye and GeneralH was attacking. FH should have had greater chances because of this, but GH needed only one roll of his dice to take all three of FH’s out.

    Round 3

Thor places an amulet on the bedrolls of Motep and discovery1.
    Jotun attacks Rythmic (LG, Sarathos)
    Loki watches LittleGrizzly.
    Yochanan searches GeneralHankerchief and Motep.

Rythmic (Prince of Kiev, Novgorod and Gardariki) dies
    Glyphz (Loki) is lynched
Scottishranger (Norwegian War Vet) is WoGed.
Andres (Danish champion) loses in Holmgang.

    Holmgang

    1. pervergreen (3) vs. Kukrikhaan (4)
    2. discovery1 (5+1) vs. Warmaster Horus (3)
    3. Andres (6) vs. discovery1 (5+1) (3–6) (3 4 4 vs. 2 6 4 | 6 2 4 vs. 3 6 1 | 1 2 2 vs. 2 4 1 )

    Notable happenings:

This round started off with an unprotected Rythmic being killed by a double Jotun hit. Loki watched LG and saw that LG was active this night. I have repeatedly cautioned players asking me about revealing in private, hinting at the parenthesis in the rules: Do so at your own risk. In this game and the cocktail of non unique PMs, it would be difficult to prove anything by revealing your role and use your PM as evidence. Loki revealed in private and so did Thor and to a person that the Jotun had an intimate connection with. All PMs sent to Privateerkev was forwarded to TinCow which displayed them in the Jotun quicktopic. The Jotun was probably the most informed group in the game. And I knew it would be hard for Loki to get the trust of the town, but that was a part of his task. I gave Loki the same ability as Heimdall had in the first game and removed Heimdall from the game.
TinCow basically ordered the lynch of Loki (glyphz), and Privateerkev executed.
    Well played TinCow.
Glyphz somehow alluded to the neutrality of Loki, and I don’t know why. Maybe he was pissed at PK for exposing him to the public? No worries M8, the Jotun already knew your identity and Thor (Curio) had provided them with the full pm. It was Jotun work, but Loki thought it was insubordinate townie work.
Disco, the champion of Motep had been blessed by Thor and had gained an extra point and a good thing he did. Andres was a strong champion with high holmgang ability while disco had the low value. They were now equal and both had 3 dice in the last round after both losing 3 in the previous. Disco lucked out and beat all of Andres’ dice.
Scottishranger was WoGed because of inactivity during two rounds (4 days).

    Round 4

Thor places an amulet on the bedrolls of Motep and LittleGrizzly.
Jotun attacks Eliit Tuhkur (TinCow), shlin28 (Sarathos)
    Yochanan does nothing.

Ellit Tuhkur (Christian) and shlin28 (Jomsviking townie) dies
El Diablo (Rus townie) is lynched
TevashSzat (Norwegian War Vet) is WoGed
Quintus (Swedish War Vet) is WoGed
w&f (Jomsborg War Vet) loses in Holmgang

    Holmgang

    1. Motep (7+1) vs. PK (5) (0-0) ( vs.)
    2. GH (6) vs. PK (5) (0-0) ( vs.)
    3. Sarathos (100) vs. pever (3) (0-0) ( vs.)
    4. Husar (5) vs. PK (5) (0-0) ( vs.)
    5. PK (5) vs. Fenring (4) (0-0) ( vs.)
    6. w&f (4) vs. Husar (5) (4-1) ( 1 2 5 vs. 1 5 3 | 6 vs. 2 4 5 | 2 vs. 4 4 2)

    Notable happenings:

Since disco had survived the lynch session, I sent him his upgrade. He was now a Lord in Sweden and became another necessary kill for the Jotun to win the game.
This was the first round Jotun killed two players. IMO it was a stroke of brilliance to start off slow with one kill and using the dwarf as the killer. I bet that confused the town pretty much during the entire game. It helped TinCow stay hidden even if he was blocked on night two.
The townie network had become a little suspicious since Loki had revealed LG’s night activities. The Jotun, lead by TinCow needed an excuse for LG’s activity. They took parts from the known Æsir PMs and made a new role for LG. quite inventive and a great chance. I had originally thought of putting Tyr into the game, but decided against it because of Yochanan and the Christian group. But they did not know this and there could very well have been another God in the game.
The townie network swallowed it raw. It could seem at this point that the game favoured Jotun. But the Jotun played a high risk game and it could crumble at any time. They would need Ichigo killed to win, but they were not allowed to. They could not kill him during the night or challenge him to a Holmgang. For Ichigo to die, they would have to vote him out or let him challenge one of them to a Holmgang. Ichigo was the one with the highest human Holmgang score.

    Round 5

Thor places an amulet on the bedrolls of Craterus and Ichigo.
Jotun attacks Craterus (LG), Proletariat (Sarathos)
    Yochanan investigates PK and Sarathos.

    Proletariat (Danish King) dies
    Seamus (Rus champion) is lynched
    Kagemusha (Danish townie) is WoGed
    pevergreen (Jomsborg townie) is WoGed
    Omanes (Jorvik townie) is WoGed
GH (Swedish champion) loses in Holmgang

    Holmgang

    1. GH (5) vs. Fenring (4) (3 - 5) (6 4 6 vs. 3 5 6 | 4 2 3 vs. 6 6 | 5 1 vs. 2 1 | 4 vs. 6)

    Notable happenings:

The jotun decided to remove one of the Kings in this round. I pretty much believe they had most of the roles figured out at this point. The Craterus hit was intentional to strengthen the trust in the townie network. They knew it would fail, but it would make Thor feel that the townie network, coined TIN by LG, could be trusted.
CR decided to investigate PK who had the XY clue. I don’t know why, as I suspected he knew about it beforehand. Yes, it was CR who stole that amulet from PK. CR finally found a Jotun and I had planned to give some good clues if he did investigate Jotun. The Jotun had done much to obfuscate any clues they left and the first investigation of a Jotun would set the sequence numbers straight (see own section on the puzzle quest).
The WoGs in this round was a result of not voting in three consecutive rounds.

This was the first round where the underdog won a Holmgang. Fenring made a few lucky dice rolls and they were down to one die each in the last round. GH rolled first and got a four; pretty decent, but Fenring lucked out again with a six. GH lost his chance to become the third Swedish Lord.

    Round 6

Thor places an amulet on the bedrolls of Craterus and LittleGrizzly.
Jotun attacks Kukrikhan (TinCow), Gaius S. Curio (Sarathos)
Yochanan investigates Fenring and Gaius S. Curio.

    Kukrikhan (Danish War Veteran) dies
    Crazed Rabbit (Yochanan) is lynched
Warmaster Horus (Christian) loses in Holmgang

    Holmgang

    1. Sarathos (100) vs. Warmaster H (3) (3 - 4) (1 5 3 vs. 5 5 1 | 3 6 2 vs. 3 1 5 | 2 3 1 vs. 1)

    Notable happenings:

Again did Thor a block a Jotun, but since the TIN now knew beforehand who received the amulet, it was easy for the Jotun to pick who should do the dirty work that night. They decided to take a point off Gaius. Again I suspect this was to further strengthen their trust with the TIN. They showed that the hit on Gaius was pure coincidental. But the truth was more sinister. Yochanan was investigating again and this time he investigated a Holmgang winner. Not all of Yochanan’s role features was described in the role PM. If he came upon a battered winner, he would lay his hands on the winner’s head and heal his wounds. This gave him favour with his Lord. Coincidentally Yochanan was lynched this round and this favour could be received. An angel appeared and gave some additional clues to the puzzle. Yochanan was the law speaker at Althing and his removal also removed him from the narration. There was now lawlessness at the Althing.
Sarathos aka Rungne the Champion Jotun used his undercover Jorvik role and challenged Warmaster H. Sarathos had 100 dice at his disposal and Warmaster would be immensely lucky to beat all of them.

    Round 7

Thor places an amulet on the bedrolls of Ichigo and Sarathos.
Jotun attacks Fenring (TinCow), Gaius S. Curio (Sarathos)

    Fenring (Rus Champion) dies
    Sarathos (Rungne) is lynched
Privateerkev (Norwegian champion) loses in Holmgang

    Holmgang

    1. TinCow (100) vs. PK (5) (5 - 12) (3 1 5 vs. 2 6 3 | 5 3 5 vs. 3 4 5 | 5 1 5 vs. 6 6 4 | 3 4 2 vs. 5 3 2 | 3 5 4 vs. 1 1 5 | 6 2 4 vs. 3 2)

    Notable happenings:

Despite the Jotun’s work of gaining trust in the TIN, Gaius aka Thor decided not to disclose his choices for protection in this round to the TIN. This was the round Gaius put … (three dots) as the PM header. I wonder why? The Jotun had plans to kill off Thor and reveal their evil plans after lynching Motep. But Sarathos was blocked and Thor knew.
The Jotun plan was cancelled and they had to think fast. They decided to sacrifice one of their group in order to regain some trust with the TIN. They cooked up the late pm result and strengthened Tyr’s position when Sarathos revealed in the thread. I felt as long as players revealed, I could use that information in the writeups. Sarathos all but confirmed his Jotun role and LG posted the fake Tyr PM. I could use it in the writeup. Tyr aka Trym aka LG stabbed Rungne aka Sarathos in the back; kudos to those that noticed.

TinCow challenged Privateerkev to a Holmgang and will thank me for changing the Holmgang abilities from the previous game. As you will notice in the fight above, PK won 12 dice to TinCow’s 5. What a luck. I was having a little dilemma here and that was the reason the writeup was slow in making for this round. Should I narrate all 6 rounds? That would have put serious suspicion on TinCow. I contemplated on what to do and looked over the role descriptions again. I hadn’t put into the Jotun roles anything about this. I had however put it in the Æsir role desciptions. When they fought, the town would not notice that they were more powerful than any of the townies. I finally decided to do the narrating as if it were Æsir fighting.

    Round 8

Thor places an amulet on the bedrolls of Craterus and LG.
    Jotun attacks Gaius (TinCow, LG)

    Gaius (Thor) dies
Motep (King of Sweden) is lynched
Husar (Jomsborg champion) loses in Holmgang

    Holmgang

    1. Husar (6) vs. LG (100) (0-6) (4 6 6 vs. 6 6 6| 5 5 3 vs. 6 5 5 )
    2. Ichigo (8) vs. LG (100)

    Notable happenings:

Thor again keeps his amulet placing a secret. But this time the Jotun is prepared. They put both kills on the same player and thereby removing Thor from the game.
The game was moving towards the end and The Jotun had saved Motep for just this occasion. I had incorporated a secret vote to the Jotun and to Yochanan. If one of the Jotun died, they could start using this feature. But for it to work someone had to not vote in that round. In other words, a 100% vote would block this feature. TinCow used this feature for the first time and it fell on discovery’s no vote. CR did not send me a secret vote and I reminded him of this feature when the deadline neared. He PMed back just after the deadline with the message that he would have voted Motep too. Motep King of Sweden was duly lynched. Erik the Victorious was a contemporary with Styrbjörn the Strong for those that doubted this. In fact Styrbjörn was Eirk’s nephew, son of Erik’s brother and co-ruler of Sweden. After his brother’s death, Styrbjörn should have inherited the second crown. It’s a long story and you can read it yourselves.
It seems the TIN now suspected LG, why would the challenge him otherwise?
LG was going to fight, but as a defender. Husar got the fight and the dice were not lucky for him. LG won both rounds easily.

    Round 9

Thor places an amulet on the Craterus’ bedroll
Jotun attacks Craterus (TinCow), discovery1 (LG)

    discovery1 (Swedish Lord) dies

    Notable happenings:

The Jotun needed one more kill and they were not sure which player was protected. The Ichigo fight wasn’t picked last round and they couldn’t kill him. It was either Craterus or discovery1. They decided to kill one each knowing the chance of one of their targets being protected. Craterus survived and disco were killed.
It was game over. A vote tie would result in a no lynch and they would have doubled up on Craterus the next night. Besides, I don’t think Thor was eligible to protect Craterus another night in a row.

    The hidden text:

The Christian quest was not a hoax to have them chasing empty clues.
It was a real quest that would eventually end up in naming TinCow, LittleGrizzly and Sarathos.
The plan was to give a trickle with information that would culminate with nearly giving the answer at the end of the game.
At the onset of the game The christians did not know eachother's identities. Ok .. this might deviate from what I said about townie networks. But nevermind, I wanted to try something.
They were given three sequences of numbers.

    4 1 - 2 4 - 6 1 - 4 2 - 2 4
    2 3 – 5 2 – 11 4 – 11 1
    2 2 – 10 1 – 6 2 – 1 4 – 9 2 – 2 4

These wouldn't give any meaningful results, but they were important nonetheless. They were the basis of the key to be used later.

When CR investigated a Jotun he would receive these updated numbers:

    5 1 - 2 4 - 6 1 - 4 2 - 2 4
    2 3 – 5 2 – 11 4 – 11 1 (– 3 1 – 2 4 – 6 2)
    2 2 – 10 1 – 6 2 – 1 4 – 9 2 – 2 4

Using the runes on page one in a grid, you would get:

With Privateerkev was a medallion with the inscription XY

using the numbers as coordinates and mapping them against the runes, you would get:

    ORDER
    NUMBERS
    ANSWER

My thought was to get them into thinking around those clues. There were something important with and ORDER of something. The NUMBERS was somehow important and it would yield and ANSWER.

Not much, but they would start cooking up theories.

    The Next clues were:

    2 4 – 2 2 – 2 3 – 6 1 – 5 1 – 11 4
    and later
    2 3 – 2 2 – 11 4 – 4 2 – 6 2

    They spelled
    RANDOM
    NAMES

So you had ORDER, NUMBERS, ANSWER, RANDOM and NAMES.
CR wrote me this at one point:
    I pray humbly to the Lord;
Lord, I know I must put the NUMBERS in a RANDOM ORDER to get the ANSWER, but I know not which method I should use to randomize the numbers I have to obtain the answer. Is there some help you can give me?
    Your humble servant,
    Amen.
    I answered his prayer with:
The bolded sequence might not be in the right order.
Use right ORDER on RANDOM with NUMBERS and you will get ANSWER.
There might be a clue left. An angel might appear.
So when the last angel arrived just before Motep's lynch with this message:
Your continuing prayers have been well recieved and your Lord sends an angel with a message.

A final clue I give you. Use it to uncover the evil that lurks. It reads:

    2 3 - 2 2 - 11 4 - 4 2 - 6 2

Use it as an aid in you logic.
Remember, the original three sequences given you in the beginning will give you a key to be used in a specific place.
Another advice I will grant you. Add the sequences (letters) column-vise and you will gain the key.
The clues will guide you in how to use this key.
This was the final clue and I thought they would be able to figure it our with testing and failing.

    So the clues would read

Use the right ORDER of NAMES on RANDOM with NUMBERS and you will get the ANSWER.

with the last advice from the angel they were given the method of generating the key.

if you add the original sequences letter by letter column-vise you would get:

Putting in the key in as a seed on Random.org in the list generator with the right order of names, i.e the names on in the opening post, it would yield TinCow, LittleGrizzly and Sarathos as the one, two and three top places (unsure of the correct order).

The names, their roles, their Holmgang ability and their factions (with upgrades):

    Clears a lot of things

It's sad to confirm that Loki's private reveals did end up in Jotun hands...

I was happy lynching Loki no matter what his role said. I wanted him lynched when I thought he was neutral just as much as I wanted him lynched when I thought he was pro-town. A role that can pick its own side is just as dangerous to the mafia as it is to the town.

Same for me. I have thanked Sigurd several times in private, but a public one is heartily due. I very much enjoyed this game, and that wasn't just for the obvious reasons. It was extremely punctual, had lots of twists and intruige even for the "informed minority" like us, and the write-ups and roles were excellent. All in all, this was one of the best run mafia games I have seen.

As a town we're not utilizing holmgang correctly. This requires thought.

When I made the game I wanted a few pictures for some of the roles, the power roles to be specific. I found a few for the Gods and the Jotun (not Yochanan though).
I will like to present a few of them here.
    The Æsir:

    Odin

    Thor

    Loki

    The Jotun:

    Vafþrúðnir

    Rungne

    Trym

    Others:

The Angel PMs to Crazed Rabbit had this picture:

Since we are on the subject of Angelic creatures
I had found some pictures I would use with the Valkyrie writeups, but decided against it.

    Valkyrie 1:

    Valkyrie 2:

The underworld had a woman greeting its warriors too:

    Hel 1:

    Hel 2:

    Hel 3:

I'm amazed that was never picked up on. I suspected that all God roles had pictures in them, but it would have been impossible for me to fake a picture, since all the pictures were posted on Sigurd's own photobucket account. If I included a random picture, the URL would have been wrong, but no one even thought twice about it when the fake Tyr role PM was picture-less. Yet another clue that could've exposed us.

Both you and the Founder have a disturbing tendency toward grand subterfuge that I find...disturbing. If you end up mafia teamed with GH, I now suspect that the HOST of that game might as well just take the week off -- since her/his game will no longer be under host control. You blokes scare me (posted with jealous respect).

I'm about as honest and loyal as a person can be in real life, but there's something about gaming that brings out another side in me. If there are good and evil paths in a game, I always play evil first. I just find villains to be more entertaining than heroes. It's easy to come up with a motivation for a hero; he's got to save lives, protect the innocent, etc. That doesn't require imagination to roleplay, because it's how most people feel anyway. Villains are different. I don't believe in true evil, only in different motivations. People may act in vile manners, but they have complex backgrounds and reasons for acting the way they do. If you can figure out what those are, often their actions don't seem quite as bad. That's one of the reasons why my favorite fiction series of all time is the Song of Ice and Fire, by George R. R. Martin. His villains all have back stories that explain why they are the way they are. Once you learn them, you don't hate them as much as you used to and you can even sympathize with their positions and choices. Fascinating stuff, really. For me, evil is just more interesting.
