Default I love The Smell Of A Government Shutdown in The Morning

    60 billion in cuts
    A veto

How will we survive without the Feds?
There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

Good for the GOP. We sent them to Washington for a reason.

The real test will be when they present their budget, and if it specifically addresses entitlements.

The president's budget revealed him to be just as weak willed as his predecessors, and was perhaps the biggest example of 'kicking the can down the road' in recent history. Experts have been clear that our financial path is unsustainable, the people have been clear that they are prepared to accept cuts, and yet it did not touch the trillions in unfunded liabilities that the welfare state has gifted us.

Yet it did not touch the trillions in the defense budget which is larger than every other nation combined.*

Actually it did. The defense department just announced $78 billion in cuts over the next five years, in addition to the $100 billion in savings from efficiencies Gates has already identified that were supposed to be reinvested into Defense and are now being directed to other parts of the federal budget.

In the end though, even cutting the defense budget by 90% would only prolong the inevitable. Serious entitlement reform is required, and this president doesn’t have the balls for it.

Welfare isn't the issue in the America. It is mainly how it is done and the other measures which haven't been made to make it sustainable. America has a severe lack of entitlements.

Though, it is only in America they offer very little in Healthcare at a far greater cost per person than in the UK.

Pity we counter-balance our health care by having a welfare state that consumes more money than john prescott does pies.
