Default Let's face the music and dance

This thread has probably been posted before but just to ask what is the status of the original EB score in relation to EBII, will it be retained, disposed of or altered? Personally some of the music in EB is wonderful, the Eastern Hellenic themes, the Roman Camp music and I absolutely love the Steppe music. However some such as the barbarian horn music drive me crackers. What do other people think?

W000T? The barbarian music is so nicely agressive! I always wanna order my Woithiz Watha and my Sloxonez to charge when I hear it.
I also like the steppe music very much. The rest is an excellent for such a game but not more. (IMHO)
PS: I also like the Panflute guy (romani)

Yeah. I must admit that I like musica Romana better than the Eastern ones.... Eastern music made me drowsy, but the Roman campaign music gives the feeling of legionaries resting in their camp, and calmly prepares for war.... while the Battle Music seems to improve concentration....

Barbarian music gets annoying after a while, hopefully a few more barbarian songs can be added in the game other than a horn.

The barbarian music was great, but it did begin to grate on the ears after the 20th hour.

I admit it was very atmospheric to begin with but as you say it did really annoying after a while. Still the inclusion of the traditional Celtic/Germanic instruments would be a nice touch, imagine how angry you would get before a battle with bagpipes playing (yes I know they were introduced by the Romans but still)

I think the best music pieces are the eastern greek themes: "Egypt", "The Rasa Dance" and "The Deserts of the West" (flute music using unusual scales). I hope they will be used in EB 2...

That's how I feel. It fitted the mood, but for some reason it got repetitive rather quicker than the music of other cultures.

The same can be said for traditional Irish music today, some reels are good but most are really repeatative.

It would be nice to hear some real nice Uilliean pipes and bouzokis but none of this instraments fit with the time frame and it goes against what this mod was about in the first place.

Maybe the Barbarian songs could have their drum beats devloped more.

I say this and its going out on a limb but around the world today there always seems to be a slightly recurring theme in regards drum beats, some faster and some using different beats in a bar.

If the Beat is good enough it can carry the song for a while longer at least.

I haven't heard any of the Eastern Music. I really like the Roman stuff, especially the pan pipe stuff on the campaign music.

I'm pretty unoppinionated about the Celtic stuff.

I still remember one time when I was playing as the Casse and my sister walked into the room and exclaimed, "What on earth is that racket?" I just cracked up.
"You must know, then, that there are two methods of fight, the one by law, the other by force: the first method is that of men, the second of beasts; but as the first method is often insufficient, one must have recourse to the second. It is therefore necessary for a prince to know well how to use both the beast and the man.

People don't go to war to play music I know that much. They can be boring or "romantic" for all I care. As long as the instruments aren't anachronistic I'm happy. This goes in line with EB agenda no?

Ok fine if you must know... Personally I really want to see the music capture the mood from the warrior's perspective and not computer gamers. That said, I'm hoping to hear more of either something trippy or depressing tune rather than Napoleonic "punk rock" nonsense during battles.

I have always loved the eastern music. Apricot Mountain is a work of great talent, and I'm currently learning how to play it on the bouzouki.

Though I usually listen to The Who when playing EB, heh.

I do not remember the music of east in EB, but the vanilla had a very good atmosphere. I am a big fan of music from Anatolia and Mesopotamia. And I know a band that produces awesome stuff. "Kardeş Türküler" You might want to chek them out. Other than that Djivan Gasparyan, Suren Asaduryan are some well known Armenian düdük players....their stuff would represent there well.

    I really like:

Rom Camp 1, great atmospheric music, I almost feel like I'm walking through the forum. Sometimes when relaxing I also play it, it is quite relaxing.

EB Barb battle theme2 is one of the best pieces of battle music, the barbarian music piece I really like. Like some others say the bagpipe music can get very annoying over longer periods.

West and Eastern Greek music is just great, nothing to say about that in particular.

Eb eastern music theme is also a very good one! Great atmospheric tune.

Defeat tune also has this majestic sound, wonderfully picked!

I kinda like the barbarian tunes, they get me in the right mood to play Casse ^^
But it's true, if you concentrate on them, they can get annoying.

I like all of EB's music though, it makes up a lot of the atmosphere.

the music kept me playing right next to every other awesome feature.

the barbarian music is pretty dang atmospheric, its mostly just ominous sounds.

and i love the barbarian and western horn, but the eastern horn is THE WORST THING ON THE PLANET. i truly mean that. that noise haunts me in my sleep. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH, seriously sounds like a baby crying.

It would be great to add to our in-game music. Personally I wish The Persian Cataphract could make some more for us most of all. A lot of behind the scenes work with a big Greek reconstructed music group fell through unfortunately late in EB1 development and we have not been able to add more to it yet.

Well, in that case you have much more apropriated bands for that :
    This or This for Sweboz

This for Gauls (this song is even about a gallic chief that resisted rome)

    This for Lugiones

    This for Casse

    This for my Lusitanians

This for Rome (This is from a diferent style of music so anyone who don't like the rest may give a try to this one)

Etc, etc, etc, I could keep going on but seriously EB barbarian musics are perfect to get in the mod as is all EB soundtrack IMHO!
I even like to listen to them while not playing. :)
