Don't be surprised if you ever return that it feels awfully small.
I just realized that when I started high school I was on these forums.
When I ended high school, I was still on these forums.
Wow.

I'm nearly finished - this Friday is my last day of 6th Form, though I still need to come back and do exams/collect results. Can't believe in a few months' time I will be studying at a university instead!
I can't believe the amount of time I've spent here either...![]()
Congratulations Hooah! Best wishes for the future...which I hope you will still be here to tell us about.

You have to read a paragraph without stopping or anything. Don't stress it though I'm just giving you a headsup. Just take your time and speak clearly. Don't rush or you will screw up. I read it too fast the first time and had to do it over again because I didn't say the in a certain spot. So when you do it dont worry about your stutter speak clearly and loudly and take your time the doctor is making bank examining kids like you.
Edit: to elaborate a minor stutter doesnt keep you out but one which will impact your ability to communicate will which i imagine yours doesn't since you are a functioning guy. Also why I said take your time on the recitation for the medical board.

Swords Made of Letters - 1938. The war is looming in France - and Alexandre Reythier does not have much time left to protect his country. A novel set before the war.
A Painted Shield of Honour - 1313. Templar Knights in France are in grave danger. Can they be saved?
On this issue: I was recently talking to an infantry Major through email and he said this, when I asked him about stuttering:
"Speech. No issue. As a 2nd LT, my first company commander had a bad stuttering problem. Also, my last boss (a Colonel), also had stuttering issue--- if this were a problem, he could not have been promoted to Colonel. It will only be a problem if you let it. Now this does not mean others will (inappropriately) give you a hard time about it though- prepare yourself for this possibility. But it should not matter to your chain of command."

Yes as long as your stuttering isnt too bad. Also your branch selection matters. There is an article in Army regs for admission that says its not a problem as long as it will not impede your ability to lead which I am sure yours won't.
Obviously basic is going to be a nightmare. prepare yourself for that okay.

Speaking in front of others isn't bad if you truly don't give a **** about what they think.
Congratulations Hooah!! It's been a pleasure getting to know you through your posts and I hope you continue to stick around even though your life is about to get a lot more busy, interesting, and fun!
Congrats. Be sure to write my name in as your "sponsor" when you go to OCS so I can get my bonus. KTHNX
Baby Quit Your Cryin' Put Your Clown Britches On!!!
You sound like your going to be fine then that certainly doesnt sound very serious to me haha! Think about it if you stay in by the time I would commission (god willing) you could be an E-5 and I would be looking to you as a grizzled veteran for advice! And I wouldn't worry about teasing from your Basic brothers haha but more about your Sergeant and teasing is an interesting word. If it makes you feel better I may be going to air assault school this summer so we can suffer together, though you will for awhile longer!
Though we probably wont hear from him for awhile!Congratulations Hooah!! It's been a pleasure getting to know you through your posts and I hope you continue to stick around even though your life is about to get a lot more busy, interesting, and fun!
BTW hooah whats your MOS going to be have you decided? Enlisting your almost guaranteed to get what you want right? Not like my sorry butt who will likely have to sign up for extra years if I want a combat arm.
Good luck Hooah in life and in the Army. Here is a song for you. :)
Silence is beautiful
Haha for sure! I just need to know your name.
After much thought and input from many people, especially MRD for which I am very thankful, I am going for 19D, Cavalry Scout.
I plan to do the DEP, which would mean I enlist this August and go to BCT about year later.

Congratulations, man. I know I haven't been around for a while, but I can safely say the army is the best thing for a lot of people I know, and I'm sure it will be great for you too.
Also, as far as the stuttering thing, I'm rather curious; what exactly do you want to do? Unless you're doing some sort of PR, I'm fairly sure that a stutter won't matter unless you're a complete screw-up in your regular duties.
Cav Scout is a good MOS. Not a fan of Strykers and ASVs, but those aren't the only things you will have to choose from. Infantry scouts think cav scout is a gay MOS, but they are just mad because they didn't think to drive. I would rather have a Cav element as my QRF than an infantry element, for fairly obvious reasons. Although infantry scouts get to drive sometimes, too, if they manage to get all their DUIs expunged, it's usually a bad idea to put them in charge of heavy machinery.

Hey MRD and a few other members won't steer you wrong.
Obviously your a very mature, educated and smart young man so you will probably shoot through the ranks. And more importantly make friends and gain experience you would never ever have and that people salivate at. I know i'm salivating at the simply being given the opportunity to serve. Only 50% of america is even capable anyway out of that only 9% have ever SERVED. with less than one percent actually in. And that 9% is going down because veterans are dying and the numbers aren't being replaced by similar numbers. Long story short you are joining one of the most elite clubs in America. Can't wait to be there with yall.
I pissed my pants laughing. And now am not allowed to stay in. THanks for crushing my dreams mrd.Although infantry scouts get to drive sometimes, too, if they manage to get all their DUIs expunged, it's usually a bad idea to put them in charge of heavy machinery.
Also hooah why are you doing delayed entry? just for an extra year to work out and prepare in other ways. hell its gotta be better to go to basic in good shape than be forced into good shape by the routine.....

Gap year in Isreal?
Beach and nice jewish girls
YUM
There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford
My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.
I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.
Sometimes I wonder what it's like to be a high school student nowadays. There definitely are more different things to do.
Wooooo!!!
