What a shame. I grew up playing this and doom as a kid.

I was going to defend the game and say it wasn't that bad. I played the first half of it but obviously didn't get as far as that reviewer did, to see the things mentioned in the review. When i got to the "The only way to proceed is to kill both women." and the mentioning of abortion jokes i decided the game wasn't worth my defense.

Gameplay wise its average. As average as average can be - the engine looks and feels like it came out of 07, and is as brown as you might expect from that era. Intellectually wise.. well, let's just say there's some things about the 90s I don't miss.

I don't begrudge Gearbox for ressurecting the game, patching it and finishing it, but I can honestly say DNF should have stayed dead.

Tbh, it's this kinda attitude which justifies the making of bad games
