    Default Stereotypes

Since I am soon to enter lamestream "society", (don't want 2 "grow up", want 2 stay young 4evr, want 2 b an alt "twenty something" chilling hard 4evr ), and leave my youthful uni days behind, it got me thinking what stereotypes y'all fit into now or in your past.

Me, I'm a humble indie kid, not as pretentious as a hipster, but just a little alt. I listen to bands you've never heard of, I have 3 sets of expensive headphones, I wear skinny jeans (most of which are stained with spray paint), my selection of vans are battered from wear, I have more ironic/graphic design/humourous t-shirts than you have hairs on your head (unless you're bald... which, I guess, it'd be more shirts than hairs on your back?).

New Englanders are generally rude, narrow minded and always in a hurry. I guess I am no different. The norm here, we are the pinacle of society as far as we are concerned.

My father thinks he's a southerner but the sad truth is he's a damnyankee from Conn.

I've only driven thru Hartford on the highway. Been north and to Rhode Island alot though. They say people from Massachusetts are bad drivers, but in my experience, Rhode Island is ten times worse!

I think I am fulfulling the stereotype of the angry, stingy Scotsman pretty well right now.

In terms of popular culture, I feel like I am a typical chav (not the new 'bling' type chav people seem to have an idea of btw) working a crappy job, that happened to go to University on the side.

I can't help it, I had to put on a suit for my graduation today and my family thinks it makes me look like a convict...

I've always thought people from back east seemed really grouchy. This kid from New York just got hired at my work, and for the first couple of days he kept commenting on how friendly everyone was.

As for me, I go for a punk look since that's my favorite music, I wear skinny jeans and band t-shirts. I hate fitting into stereotypes though so I've tried to make my style my own, I also have some nice button downs and polos that I wear.

I visited Salt Lake City some years ago, and I must admit it was one on the nicest cities I've visited. People do seem to go out of their way to be friendly. To a New Englander: What is the motivation for this 'friendliness'?

We don't have to live near Massachusetts.

Also; Canadians are terrible drivers. And they come down here to buy 24 gallons of milk at a time. That is not an exaggeration.

    I wonder why?

Well I'm uni student. And stereotypes demands I smoke pot, but most important drink lots of beer ending up thinking about what happened again last night and go back partying when I'm sober. And well that indeed used to be a rather accurate picture.

I'm also Belgian. Which means my beer 'problem' would be even bigger. I'd only eat chips, chocolate and waffles. I would want my country to be split into two and I kidnap children for a living, convince Russian girls to become err...dancers or export drugs. Luckily this image is rather false. Well except perhaps for the beer.

I'm also European which must mean I'm into fashion, don't believe in God as I'm a socialist or communist, don't care about monogamy and like my movies without action, a plot, and with as little as much logic and we are not patriotic. But actually I hate fashion and I don't dig Stalin.

I have to concur, this stereotype isn't true. I also use Olga to give me back rubs.

Why are all your pants stained with spray paint?

I don't know what I'd be considered. I usually wear Dickies/blue jeans, t-shirts that have random things on them, and vans or converse.

I probably get labelled as a suit, considering I'm required to wear one from 9-5, 5 days a week. Off the job, I'm just a blue jeans and t-shirt kind of guy; don't really fit in any particular group.

Gah, this is a stereotype in itself!

There's nothing wrong with street art, as long as it's not just a case of mindless name tagging; something like this is the sort of graffiti I like to see... wish I could work on such a large canvas! :3
