    Default Whistleblowing journalist found dead

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standa...-found-dead.do. Police says his death is not suspicious, only unexplained. whatever that means.

Come on, this is just begging for conspiracy theories.

What makes this more scary is the police claiming that it isn't suspicious so early when they said that it was unexplained.

According to friends and former colleagues Hoare has been deeply paranoid as well as physically ill lately. People just up and die sometimes. As far as I can tell there is nothing suspicious about his death, or is there?

Well, a few weeks before he died he was certain that someone's out to get him and it happened right around the time entire thing exploded. Come on, come on we can do this... We can unravel the mystery and bring the evil news empire down!

If this carries on any longer, Britain will join the ranks of third world banana republics such as Italy and France. The most peculiar connections between media moguls, billionaires, and politicians. About these things, I never quite understand where the conspiracy theory ends and bitter reality begins.

Hm - isn't that exactly what they want you to believe?

In fairness, he wouldn't be paranoid if people really were out to get him. That said, I doubt the bobbies would have said it wasn't suspicious if it wasn't.

It makes a good story, but mysterious deaths of one whistleblower is ineffective. They've already given up the information, so it's only for revenge or to threaten the next whistleblower. But a maybe murder isn't a good scare.
We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

Their track record at the moment is hardly spotless on that account.

I'm not sure that this thread is going anywhere constructive, despite the interesting nature of the story.

If someone wants to address the subject again (or ideally add contributions to the existing News of the World thread) feel free but one hopes there will be a little less dubious sarcasm and a little more intelligent opinion advanced.
