    Who cares. This is life, let's let things get interesting. We still have basic levels of education here, still have infrastructure. Most of us speak the same language and have levels of geographic isolation from threats. Fertile landscapes for food production etc. A default may require a major social restructuring,but who says that we don't need that and wouldn't benefit long term. Sometimes the status quo needs to be shattered when people have run out of ideas. Personally, I prefer a moderate approach, but that doesn't seem like an option here. This isn't a popularity contest like an election. I'm not sure that the president has ever faced a situation like this.
