Congratz! How long have you been trying to pass?
Ages and ages, I got the prov years ago and never did the test cos I left home and didnt need the car.
Then I came back and applied the year before last and I had three fails since, they say leaving it so long you get bad habits that are hard to break for your test.
This time I did two to three lessons a week for about a month beforehand.
I nearly died when the tester came out he is know as the strictest guy in the centre, he just about let me go. (he was itching for another bad mark)
At least it's done now and never needs doing again.

I passed mine when I was 17 and haven't driven since, the insurance was too expensive.
I hope its like riding a bike and I will pick it up again, its been 4 years now...
At the end of the day politics is just trash compared to the Gospel.
Gaelic cowboy, please put up a thread with your planned travel routes and the times you'll use those.
We'll all feel a lot safer.

If you can drive the boreens safely you shouldn’t have any problem any place else, except just remember that once you are on the continent everyone drives on the other side of the road.

Congrats on passing your test. I have a question about the roads over there. In police chase TV shows I have watched (don't get into one), there are white zig zag lines on the street. What the heck do those mean? We have no such lines here in the US and I have always wondered as to what they signify. I think the chases were in England but perhaps they span (the zig zags) the whole of the UK?
Silence is beautiful
Yea there generally from the UK but sometimes if you watch enough of them there is the odd Irish one, usually it just some eejits like boy racers up in Donegal or a joyrider over in Dublin.
Anyway to your question I'm guessing its at a pedestrian crossing like this one
Here is a webpage with how to do any of them
Basically don't overtake or park up as it blocks the persons view of the road if there using the pedestrian crossing in the background.
Oh and don't forget to stop if the pedestrian has even a half a foot on the crossing.

Well done, I've got mine in 2 weeks after failing my first and last one 19 years ago.

Oh, meant to say, passed with 1 minor, stay out of Wales for a while.
Only took 19 years and getting on for £500, bargain. No driving tonight though, busy drinking.
STAY OFF THE ROADS!
Congrats dude!
Congrats!
Driving tests over there must be much more difficult than they are here in the States. It's very hard to fail one over here, which is too bad. Mine consisted of putting the (automatic) car in drive and reverse and making it around a block without crashing. No interstate, no passing maneuvers, no emergency scenarios, and no parallel parking. Passed!
The British tests are renowned as being some of the hardest in the world - this contrasts with, say, the Turkish driving test which consists of a hill start.
Congrats gc. Avoid any road trips near "Women Only" car-parks.

I used work with this guy in INTEL and he reckon that Saudi Arabia had a test which consisted of reversing into a parking space at the test centre, apparently he lived there for a while fixing helicopters or summit.
It seems they assumed you were capable of driving forwards cos you obviously drove to the test centrehe also claimed it was not accepted anywhere in the world, even if it was a lie it's still a great story in the pub
