You know, even though I was a fur-wearing, two-handed weapon smashing Nord, I sided with the Imperials. Mel Gibson would hate me SO MUCH.

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

So, did anyone of you finish the companions quests and the thief's guild? If so what do you think of the story?

I for one think both are poorly written

I've only done the Thieves guild so far, and I didn't feel it was poorly written. Taking the thieves back to being Tamriel's Mafia like they were in Morrowind was a good thing. I feel that the cursed Robin Hood thing they had in Oblivion was a lot weaker. Plus the lack of the whole independent thievery thing makes it much better to play through.
If you havin' skyrim problems I feel bad for you son.. I dodged 99 arrows but my knee took one.

Didn't do the thieves guild quest. The companions quest-line though, was quite short, compared to Oblivion's Fighters Guild. As far as writing is concerned, IMO that was never a strong point with TES games.
What really bothers me is that lack of a 'Destroy the Thieves Guild' quest.

I do not think Oblivion's was better. I think Oblivion's thief's guild was poorly written too.

What personally bothered me was that Maven is portrayed as a big and powerful woman and that you don't wanna mess with her. So when it turned out she has a meager role in the whole story I was kind of disappointed. They hopped to quickly to the nightinggale bull****. It was all about Maven and her wine with competition and then all of the sudden nothing. Guess we didn't need her help that much after all. IMHO just a weak bridge, really weak.

Some more minor (but useful) interface mods
Better sorting mod - Renames some items so that they are sorted better
Container categorization - Allows you to view containers the same way you view your own inventory, with the various categories (weapons, apparel, etc)

I highly recommend using them in conjunction with SkyUI (and to make it easier on yourself, use the Nexus Mod Manager, too).
