Thread: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group

The auction house is something of an instawin button. I spent a trivial amount of time (about ten mins, all buyouts) and gold (something like 25-30k) setting up my wizard for nightmare, and his listed damage is now almost 1k. Everything just explodes. I re-did normal Diablo just for fun, and it took maybe 20 seconds per phase. For a level 30 character. Sure it's only normal, but still the AH makes it pretty easy to have decent gear.

The crafting system seems pointless right now. The sheer volume of auctioned items guarantees that you'll find the stuff you want.

As for the wizard, I like it more than the witch doctor. The wizard can position itself better (no Soul Harvest) and has great defenses. Damage is accurate and "snappy", for want of a better word. The Wizard would seem to be better suited for Hardcore, or that's the gut feeling at least.

Auction House update: as of last night Square gems (level above Radiant) were going for about 1500-2000 gold. So, not worth crafting those either. They must be dropping in Hell difficulty.

Wow. On HC a flawless averages around 5k per.

Also, broke down some more rares and got teeth on all of them. Must have been an early bug.

Speaking of bugs, while rolling blindly in to fight Diablo last night in hardcore, I caugh an interesting bug. Just before the "event" I got stunned for the first time in the game. When the event started, I was still stunned. Stayed stunned for more than 60 seconds as the special characters wailed on me. Got me below 10% health and finally broke free. Was yelling. Woke the neighbors. Thoguht maybe this was normal for the scene until I watched videos. Right before the fight, I changed one of my passive skills to the one that does 75% damage negation when stunned.... had I not done that I would most certainly be dead. F U Blizzard

Anyone else manage to get to Whimsyshire yet? I've spent the past day or so trying to get all the necessary item drops to do so. Stuck on Izual right now.

There are plenty of level 60s, but only a few in inferno. Most are too scared or waiting for certain fixes, like fixing the inferno enrage timers.....

It's actually easy to powerlevel in Hardcore, but I have avoided doing it, mainly because I don't have any friends in hardcore who will coordinate it with me. When my level 40 was alive I could have gotten you guys from level 2 to 28 in probably about 2 hours....

I dont have a problem doing this because NM Hardcore is where the real game begins as far as I am concerned....

Now I will probabaly have to join a clan for support because the ORGAHS are wussies. I want to keep playing hardcore, but the low level grind on multiple characters will get old really quick, and it creates sloppiness

After reading threads from normal modes/classes/campaigns it reminds me all over again why i play hardcore.

Yeah it definitely lessened the blow that I have my stash maxed out and completely full of stuff.... i just wish I had remembered to dump all my radiants of my main before she got killed....

FYI I completely misunderstood how the ELECTIVE MODE feature worked. I thought it just let you customize your toolbar.... I had no idea you could double and triple up on categories, I thought you still had to take 1 skill from each branch. Anyway, I had just found that out right before I died and was messing with a new template which may have contributed to my demise

And GC: Stop deleting dead characters from hardcore. Send them to the hall of fame, they show on your profiel to other then with a little bio

The monk has multiple heals that all fall in the saem category, and had I not gotten my WD killed a few hours ago, I was pretty sure that the two summoning skills (dogs and the fat guy) are in the same category.

Using elective mode it is entirely possible to make a monk that is 100% support/heals/escape.... of course if you are playing with tarts or soloing you may need to adjust templates. I really wish we could not respec anytime we wanted, this sort of makes it pointless to have more than one of any class, and elective mode while awesome sort of emphasises this. Look at what happened with the wizards, we wern't even a week in and sooooo many people were using the bogus force armor build and able to solo rush to hell with no problem. Of course, many of those guys died after the first patch hehe, but oh well...

    Great article.

This is me and GC playing Hardcore mode:

I cannot log on for 3 days now since the patch. I had this issue with initil install and had to download some fixes from a non-blizzard source, but none of the subsequent patches created an issue until this last one. It may be my government-provided internet. Either way, I'm not going to use a non-blizzard source again after all the hacking, and thus far all my tech support inquiries ahve pointed to that solution, or, to find another internetz.

So I guess i won't be playing for a while

Apparently some Forbes writers play Diablo 3:

It’s a bit like walking into your house after a robbery. There’s that same feeling in the pit of your stomach as you approach a front door that’s been kicked in, but instead here you’re greeted by a naked character at the Diablo 3 selection screen. My poor monk, clad only in the scraps he started in, armor and weapons stripped, a sad look in his eye that tells me everything I need to know about what I’m going to find when I log in.

It may be frail; its roof may shake; the wind may blow through it; the storm may enter; the rain may enter; but the King of England cannot enter – all his force dares not cross the threshold of the ruined tenement! - William Pitt the Elder

Scienter and I just started on Nightmare with our second characters, so we'd be at about the same level as you right now. We're usually on nightly EST, if you want to join us.

It's been 2 weeks now and I havent been able to get it to work since the patch, which is wierd because it patched just fine before.

I am fiending for a game, but I have a new rule (because this sort of crap happened with SC2 as well):

    - I will not spend more than 15 minutes in any one day researching or trying to fix the issue. It took me 3 hours to figure out how to get the game installed initially because of various issues that were not all on my end. Not gonna do that again. I think ultimately the issue may be the firewall on my government provided recreational internet, and I'm not gonna load up my PC and go to a hotel because hotels are for meeting strippers, not carrying desktops so you can be robbed.

Anyway, that's my story. Have fun in the game guys.

Anyone else made any progress in hardcore?

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to earn real money now with this game, and to which extent? Curious to see how RMT is developing. I was curious about writing an article about it, so any tips and hints would be very much appreciated.

I declare myself done with this game. Got two level 60 characters, and it's just not any fun. The Inferno grind is simply boring. Useful loot almost never drops, so it's just a question of farming endless gold to spend on the auction house. That's a chore, not a game. I put in well over 100 hours before I tired of it, so it's still a good game... but it just doesn't have the same long-term appeal of Diablo 2.

    Min. selling price of $1.
Blizz takes a $1 cut from every item you sell.
There's a 15% transaction fee for using PayPal.

This means in order to make money, you have to charge a lot (imo). If I was interested in buying things from the RMAH, I wouldn't want to spend more than $.50 or maybe $1.25. Unfortunately, its impossible to sell things at that price and make a profit. Which means that you're best off not even using the RMAH to sell items unless you come accross something truly godly, that you can feel justified charging a high price for. Unless, of course, there's a lot of D3 players out there willing to spend a lot more money than I would be comfortable spending.

I'm intrigued by the RMAH (not offended, like lots of people) but it does leave a wierd taste in my mouth, so to speak.
I actually started considering the possibility to play some D3 and make some money off of it. Tried to talk about a friend with it last night, but he just couldn't put a finger on the actual value of average gaming hour in RM terms. I know about Blizzard taking its cut and the 15% fee, but if you need to play ten hours a day and earn 2-3$, then it is not really worth it...

Sorry to hear that. I'd been keeping an eye out but hadn't had much time to play. You pulled way ahead of me. My main character is still around 44 or so. and finishing Act 2 of Nightmare. I'd been keeping out of the Auction House but took a peek and was gratified at least my weapon was equal to or better than the 40 or so pages of level appropriate crossbows being sold. Something I'm sure won't last...

At this point I'm not sure if the long term appeal of the game will match Diablo 2 for me. One thing I kind of wonder about is something I generally consider an improvement, but one that may weaken replay value. Way back a younger Zim was instantly attracted to a certain class (Necromancer) and played through the game two or so times just kind of screwing around, putting skill points in whatever I thought was cool. Don't think I even beat Nightmare with those first two characters (and I never got into playing into the levels higher than NM). Eventually I read about builds and why it's good to sink all of your points into Bone Spear and/or the Blood or Fire Golems (whichever you liked better), skeleton builds, etc. I'd get excited about a new build and have to bring a new character at least through all of Normal Mode to give them a good try. I eventually branched out to other classes and did some of the same, although I never was able to get up the enthusiasm to make a lot of characters in any single other class and bring them that far.

In Diablo 3 I'm very appreciative of being able to switch my skills around whenever I want. It's a great feature. However, it does mean it will be a long time before I play through the game with any character of a class I've already tried a second time. Even worse, there's only one class I'm really interested in. Chances are I'll get my Demon Hunter up to level 60, maybe make it through normal with another class, and then step away from the game for a while, at least until the expansion comes out.

Finished normal last week ...typically get 20 mins a day with a few longer times... Doesn't help that Australia is on US servers (at least the same patching cycle) and the patches are done from about 8pm here in Aus so wham goes one of my main times.

Anyhow playin hardcore now. Much more on my toes and painful when a character dies. Also must be much more in tune with abilities and be much more ready to fight elite mobs and know when to run.
