    One solution: Only ever use default (base) size and manually set the unit sizes to the sizes you want in the unit prod file (e.g. 80/120/200). This avoids the doubled training time (though you'll be missing out, as the huge unit size is quite arguably the best way to play the game).

    Even with this approach, more men will still mean higher support costs so you will have to tweak those manually.

    I have never played using huge unit sizes, first only "standard" and now "medium".

    Perhaps a dumb question but if I would use a larger unit size for my next game, would the "maximum persons in army" size change too? The game on medium unit size already stops me joining 16 units of 133 men Slav Warriors in one army because the game not only limits an army to 16 units but to number of soldiers too.

    Yes, the maximum stack size also increases in line with the unit size changes, so on 'huge' unit size a stack can have 1920 men in it rather than the default 960.
