Take what you may from this, but i find it a very reassuring event. I can only hope something good comes out of this.

We can only hope these talks go well. If they do, then it shows there is truly some hope and sanity in the world.

I'm sceptic. The Orthodox and the Roman Catholic Chruch still differ each other, though in many aspects they are close. Muslim world is very different from our own, and it has different stereotypes than the Christian (however relative that term could be). The only things that could be achieved is more tolerance and that's something that worths the efforts. But of course, there will always be extremists... Knowledge in any sense of the world is extremely important since ignorance causes distrust and hatred...(some philosophical ending).

In fact no religion teaches to hatred and violance.

No offence intended, but, by taking such an aggressive stance and vilifying them, i.e. religious people(s), you actually sound just as bad as them. Your effectively doing the same thing as some sections of their denominations. In a sense endorsing, and entrenching the same discrimination, the same anger and hatred. And in the same way, just like them, you can justify it in your own mind. Only the path that takes you there is different.

Humans are all the same. No one is above it, don't kid yourself into believing that since you are free from religion you are free from the frills of humanity.

allowing any difference to come between people that stems from a non-reality based root cause is not "sanity"....my post only highlighted that through some use of irony...

In essence i can see where ronin is coming from, i see religion as fairly similar to superstitious belief, i consider superstition to be stupid, i just wouldn't state that religion is stupid because there are so many religious people, i guess its more out of respect than simply because theres lots of them, also superstitious people usually realise thier superstitions are kind of crazy... whereas most religious people would not see thier religion in a similar light..
