Default 70th Anniversary Of His Departure, 10th of November

It's November the 10th again, after 70 years without his presence, we are definitely missing his premature departure, apparently unable to have understood his principles and internalize his ideals for the country and the people he never hesitated to express his admiration for.

To the man who struggled both on the battlefield and in the parliament that put us in front of many civilizations with his revolutions and vision not whom we were told to aim to reach had not demonstrated yet.

To the man who planned, fought for and leaded to our freedom, who gave our women of what they had been stolen as individuals, who was the first one to present a festival for children, who was thoughtful and kind -as brave as he was on the battlefield- that could order a Greek flag to be picked up from the ground,

Most of all, to the man who always wished what we all still wish for:

" Peace at home, peace all over the world "
We have not forgotten you nor your ideals and are dedicated to enforce our way through.

Gentlemen, it is 70th anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's passing away.

Here is a gallery of his seldom seen pictures in case you are interested.

Indeed, a very great man who left an extraordinary legacy.

May he be remembered fondly and well.

This might be a Backroomish comment, but would it be wrong to compare him to Mohammed as a political force? In terms of creating his nation, and leaving behind an ideology on which said nation would be based for generations to come. Admittedly, his legacy hasn't lasted as long as Mohammed's has, but it's lasted to date, which is as long as it can, and Mohammed was supposed to have been the single most influential person in all of history, so not quite matching up to his legacy is no shame.

My respects to the namesake & founder of Kamalism. May his deeds long outlive all of us.

A man who struck a blow for the republic. Simply Awesome
There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.
