    Default General/Admiral Speeches

So last time there were general/admiral speeches before battles. I'm sure like many of you, after hearing it once or twice you just skipped to the battle itself.

I think, from what i've read they are back in ETW.

So with time ahead, as I assume this is a minor feature and only involves voice work.

How do you think they could improve the pre battle speeches?

Better quality? More accents? More uniqueness? Names mentioned? Etc etc.

If they're in the appropriate language, I'm all for it. Especially with named characters.

I demand Suvurov making profanity-laced speeches about how whoever you're fighting. Nothing is better than Russian profinanity ;)

Indeed, if they speak their native languages I'm all for it. I look forward to hearing the differences between an inept general and a great one.

I would like to have the game, through counsels, suggests different speeches and let you choose which one to say. Speeches ranging from "kill all of them" to long and boring. What you chose will affect how your troop fight! Would be a lesson in leadership...

If there are more speeches along the lines of the insane speeches from RTW, i'll be quite happy.

"And remember, they may have the Moon People on their side, but we have lovely hats. Those hats will shield us from their fearsome gaze!"

"And any man who comes through this fight mostly unharmed will be my sister! It'll be free frocks and jollies for ever, you'll see!"

I like the ones with tactical advice, even when it isn’t that good. I also like the references to the faction you are fighting.

I am not that fond of the generic, kill them all or say a prayer.

In this iteration of the TW series it might be good to have something relating to bleed the enemy and then run like hell!

I always loved fighting the French in MTW2. Because there were so many speeches specifically insulting the French :P
Sadly they didn't seem to go in for much faction-specific insulting (besides a few against the English and the generic 'HEATHENS' for use against muslims.)

Sorry, another few classic lines from speeches...

"But beware! Beware! The enemy will be merciless, because I ate all their bees! They have not tasted honey for many a moon, and this has made them mad for revenge! To arms, my pretties, to arms!"

"Now lads, once the battle is over, please - no skipping with the entrails this time!"

"The enemy? I've seen scarier mothers-in-law!"

I demand more like this! It's all so brilliant. And for every faction, not just the Romans.

It would be great if they threw in some more funny/crazy ones in there.

I remember one battle in RTW where it was a really critical battle, but I laughed so much from the initial speech that I messed up setting up my army's starting position and then got destroyed horrendously

Gentlemen should exercise caution and wear stout-sided boots when using the Fintry-Kyle Escape Apparatus. Ladies, children, servants and those of a nervous disposition should be strongly encouraged to seek other means of hurried egress.

I remember a pretty funny one when I played as the Spanish and fought the Scots.

He said something along the lines of "How can these people call themselves men while wearing skirts?"
I think that was the gist, but I haven't played M2 in so long that I forgot the exact words awhile ago.
"You must know, then, that there are two methods of fight, the one by law, the other by force: the first method is that of men, the second of beasts; but as the first method is often insufficient, one must have recourse to the second. It is therefore necessary for a prince to know well how to use both the beast and the man.
