I've always had an interest in certain very specific periods of history (big gap in my interest from 200AD to around 1600AD). Finished uni six years ago, work in Big IT, though I'm not a techie. Married, no children yet.
It began on seven hills - an EB 1.1 Romani AAR with historical house-rules (now ceased) Heirs to Lysimachos - an EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR with semi-historical houserules (now ceased) Philetairos' Gift - a second EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR

You are. Stop denialing. You would be here if you weren't.
Well I'm not. Yeah, sounds a bit rich coming from someone who plays EB but unlike the real Orghas (sp?) I manage to do it only once a week. And seriously, what's with the self-demeaning attitude? Everybody here doesn't have to be a nerd with achne and no social life, and no-one here has to be a party animal who gets drunk every Friday and just plays EB while hung-over.
I'm a 16-year-old Finn who has always liked history and strategy games. Still trying to figure out what I'm going to do after school (most likely something related to biology).
Really? Damn, I thought that I was the only one of my kind. Anyway whereabouts Finland do you live? I'd speak Finnish but in my experience starting a totally inside conversation isn't looked kindly upon here.

Reason: Spelling
Well I'm a guy, I'm 16 and am still in high school. It's supposedly the best high school in the country so perhaps that's a bit telling. Anyways classical history has been a great interest of mine for as long as I can remember, though recently I've been neglecting it in favour of linguistics, cultural anthropology, the study of myth and even more recently philosophy. Once I get to university I'll most probably study history of somesort and end up as a dingy old academic.

Wow, I actually understood all that based on my horrible Swedish.
I'm a bloody soldier mate.
like the guy under you. Speak fer yerself!
I'm a infantryman who has a hobby interest in ancient history. Like a few others here my interest dissipates after the dark ages. then we see a resurgence of that interest once we Canadians start bootin the dirty American's out our borders (1812) My true passion is WWII though, as it holds a place in my heart cause of my family's involvement. One gramps was a paratrooper for Canada, the other was a spitfire pilot.
I won't be a reservist for long myself. I'm going regular para soon.

Ok, since you're a fellow Norseman, and you may need some assistance I guess I could post in both English and Norwegian.
I am 25, just hobbyist interest. Shogun:Total War was the first TW game for me back in 2001, and I could never turn back to regular RTS (Supreme Commander is an exception). My interest in history increased. I work on a local helicopter base here for the offshore oil industry. I'm not playing EB as much though, don't have so much time available. I've been a member of the EB team since 2005. My job in EB has been to coordinate and initiate the translations and recordings of voicemods. So I recruit able translators, I seek the help of professors, or I acquire obscure grammar books, I recruit voice actors and oversee the quality of the voice recordings. I've also been a researcher on ancient siege warfare.
Where in Norway are you from, and your age?

...Am I too young for this game/forum?
If the Finnish job market is anything like Britain's, the only thing you'll be doing that actually uses biology is being a biology teacher. Jobs in primary science are almost non-existent.

I'm just an average fulān (palestinian/ american one) out to have a historical experiance really. I started playing RTW partly out of interest in hellenistic warfare (i had already learned of AS, and wanted to experiance ruling a giant empire), but mainly beacuse of two things:
1-the laptop I write on has enough memory(100GB+), so I figured i'd get a fitting game.
2-It get's off thinking about someone I knew in highschool (the sig says it all)
I started playing age 17, after I graduated highschool. and I installed the game on June 27, 2007 (8 o'clock), the day I got my laptop. I first had EB in september of 2007 (EB o.81), got 1.0 on october 12(1 o'clock in the afternoon), 1.1 by april 13 (4 in the afternoon), and 1.2 was downloaded just yesterday (two thirty in the afternoon).*
as to why I got EB, that's a very funny story; you see, I had pretty quickly got mad at CA for the arcani, head hurlers, and yes, backwarded gauls. So, looking for a proper historical mod to do all factions justice, I went ahead and saw if the game could be modded. I found out it could, and that there was already an RTR mod out there. after getting the patches and installing it properly, I watched in horror as the game CTD'd while loading itself up. I later found that there was an unusual bug peculiar to the computer, which rendered any RTW 1.2 useless. So I went searching again for a more user friendly mod**, and found me this one. the rest is history.
and you know what's funny: I hate smilies, yet I find them necessary for some reason
*I have the unusual ability of remembering key dates, so I know when all was done. yes, all this is out of memory.
**this is not an anti RTR story. that's just what happened.
EDIT: I'm going into paleontology-screw what my parents say..

Get over her. There are always more fish in the sea.
aren't the guy with the slow reflexes though?
I'm already over her..mostly
also, you'd be surprised about me. I am quite booksmart, but I have little to no common sence, usually tied to what I learned. I can come up with ideas quickly, but I can also freeze in mid-thought. I can write this post with perfect spelling, and speak classical arabic perfectly, but I tend to jumble my english and arabic dialect in speech (people can't understand half of what I'm saying). I'm quite a loner (all my friends here number less than 10), yet here am I posting here. I can be very nice one moment, unbelievebly cruel the next (asshole and sweet being the two most common epithets). I speak like a midwesterner, yet I have a good deal of british english vocabulary, form all the british in Kuwait (arse for example*). I can write a good poem without thought, but a prose work is difficult past page 3.
I'm a wierd bundle of contradictions I guess. then again, we all have issues now, don't we.
I pronounce it /æɹs/

Due, she ain't worth it, believe me. I got almost drunk to death this year (seriously) because of a girl. Later I found out I was so damn stupid... Just remember it's you first, everything else next.
