I've always had an interest in certain very specific periods of history (big gap in my interest from 200AD to around 1600AD). Finished uni six years ago, work in Big IT, though I'm not a techie. Married, no children yet.
It began on seven hills - an EB 1.1 Romani AAR with historical house-rules (now ceased)
Heirs to Lysimachos - an EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR with semi-historical houserules (now ceased)
    Philetairos' Gift - a second EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR

Ok, since you're a fellow Norseman, and you may need some assistance I guess I could post in both English and Norwegian.

I am 25, just hobbyist interest. Shogun:Total War was the first TW game for me back in 2001, and I could never turn back to regular RTS (Supreme Commander is an exception). My interest in history increased. I work on a local helicopter base here for the offshore oil industry. I'm not playing EB as much though, don't have so much time available. I've been a member of the EB team since 2005. My job in EB has been to coordinate and initiate the translations and recordings of voicemods. So I recruit able translators, I seek the help of professors, or I acquire obscure grammar books, I recruit voice actors and oversee the quality of the voice recordings. I've also been a researcher on ancient siege warfare.
Where in Norway are you from, and your age?

Well I'm a guy, I'm 16 and am still in high school. It's supposedly the best high school in the country so perhaps that's a bit telling. Anyways classical history has been a great interest of mine for as long as I can remember, though recently I've been neglecting it in favour of linguistics, cultural anthropology, the study of myth and even more recently philosophy. Once I get to university I'll most probably study history of somesort and end up as a dingy old academic.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Well I'm not. Yeah, sounds a bit rich coming from someone who plays EB but unlike the real Orghas (sp?) I manage to do it only once a week. And seriously, what's with the self-demeaning attitude? Everybody here doesn't have to be a nerd with achne and no social life, and no-one here has to be a party animal who gets drunk every Friday and just plays EB while hung-over.

Really? Damn, I thought that I was the only one of my kind. Anyway whereabouts Finland do you live? I'd speak Finnish but in my experience starting a totally inside conversation isn't looked kindly upon here.

If the Finnish job market is anything like Britain's, the only thing you'll be doing that actually uses biology is being a biology teacher. Jobs in primary science are almost non-existent.

In a small town near Tampere.

Well, I have 3 years left until I have to decide what exactly I am going to study so I can worry about this stuff later.

Looks like a lot of people from Northern-Europe are playing EB!

Anyway, I'm 25 and from Estonia. Married and have 3 kids. History is my hobby. Wanted to go to Uni to study history but RL had something different in it's mind.

I'm a 17 year old half Greek - half Dutch (from my mother's side) Physics student.

I first started playing RTW one year after it came out and have tried many mods ever since. I only recently (1 year ago) found out about EB and got stuck to it.

History has always been of great interest to me, only as a hobby though.

I'm a 24 year old Polock that lives in Port St. Lucie, Florida (USA). I am a apprentice Electrician. I love strat games and once Rome - Total War came out I fell in love with it. I played RTR first then found EB and have played it since. I actually got hooked on History and warfare cause of EB, crazy isnt it? Medieval 2 came out and I went crazy cause I could play Poland and show the Holy Roman Empire what a massive calvary charge feels like lol. That was fun but I came back to EB again.

BTW v. 1.2 is doing good so far. I played Pontus a couple times and quit cause the game crashed after the first or second major battle or if I took a city (why I dont know). Now I am play Pontus and its almost 229bc and I'm kicking Selcuid a$$. Love it, good work. Can't wait for EB 2.

P.S. Big thanks to you northern europeans for the trance, techno, and acid music. I love that stuff, always listen to it when I play EB.

yeah, I will do the same. I have seen other norwegians here to. Bovi and this other guy from Bergen.

So I have history only as my hobby temporary. But I am not planning to take it further than as a hobby. But when I finish high school, I will probably study history and social studies or something I find cool, becouse I have allways wanted to become a teacher. I have allways liked history and in 2004 when rome total war came out it took off. I have never played any other games since (exep playing aoe2 over LAN on my school, and Jediknight starwars in the easter hollidays). Exept that, only total war and mods. So I read a lot and buy all books I can get now, and I am starting to become more unsocial

An 18 year old U.S. guy here, planning on becoming a radiologist. In addition to a casual interest in history, I've always loved strategy games and picked up Rome when it came out because of my experiences with Medieval: Total War, which I firmly believe to be one of the finest games ever made. A pity it doesn't run on my new computer.

As for EB, I didn't play it for the longest time because I stupidly thought it was 'just a barbarian mod' and went for RTR instead - which I don't altogether regret, as RTR is a very fine mod. But when I gave EB another try, I was hooked, for one simple reason; it's huge. Really huge. I played for hours and hours and still hadn't seen everything it had to offer, and I eat that sort of gaming experience up. It also taught me more than a few things, and sparked a thirst for more knowledge (I've already spent over $50 on books on Carthage alone thanks to EB).

Another thing that kept me playing is the sheer amount of detail in the mod, especially as far as graphics, which normally don't impress me much. But the unit models are just gorgeous - seriously, whoever skinned the Indohellenikoi Eugeneis Hoplitai should get a medal.

I'd better stop before I get carried away..

18-year old Egyptian living (for now) in Los Angeles, USA. I love roman history and my interest in it sparked when I got RTW oh so long ago. I pretty much played vanilla until I got M2. I played that for about a month and then I found out about EB from GameFAQs.com, I asked abut any good mods and pretty much everyone pointed to EB. After my first campaign, I was hooked.

I'm a 37 y/o stay at home dad in the US. I've been, at various times in my life, a Building Materials Supply clerk, Talent Manager, Concert Promoter, Musician, Truck Driver, Wildlands conservation crew foreman, construction worker, and produce wholesaler, all of which I'm heartily glad I don't have to screw around with anymore, since it gives me a lot more time to hang out with my son, read history, and PLAY EB.

PS- my little 4y/o son is entranced by this game, I'm gonna teach him how to play as soon as he develops something resembling an attention span. LOL

Merlinus I'm so glad you posted. I also am older (40), a dad, and have played EB with my kids. I am Irish and live in Dublin, although in the past I have lived in the States, Germany, France, Norway, and Finland. I don't have a lot of time to play these days but I enjoy some of the discussions on the forums.

I'm a total jerk (almost got banned for it! ), and I go to university, as well. I turned 18 a couple days ago, I love reading books and playing strategy games, aim to get a minor degree in history, a major in business, and I'm hot! Yay!

I'm a sort of bookworm-computer nerd-pretty boy kind of person. Life is good. For those who disagree with that statement: Haaa haaa!
