Helsingin Suomalainen Reaalilyseo, tuttavallisemmin Ressu.

No other IB'ers here? Really? None? Pity...

    Cool...

Was it of any actual use when applying to university? Our co-ordinator keeps telling us stories of how the Finnish universities prostrate themselves before anyone with the IB diploma and how great an advantage we have when applying abroad.

Depends on the country. German universities won't accept it at all (for Germans... they make exceptions for foreigners, i think). I did the IB in the US and compared to other american high schools, you definately have a gigantic advantage, but that isn't really surprising, hehe

I am a 15-year old Russian who lives in Florida for most of the year. I am a major nerd and a bookworm, particularly interested in history. Ancient Roman and 20th century history (especially WWII) are the two areas of my greatest expertise. The period I like the least in early Feudal to Late Medieval, even though I know quite a bit about them. The first book I have ever read, when I was five years old, was a history book about the medieval to modern times, on a middle school reading level, so it wasn't all pictures. Anyway, in Russia, children start reading later, usually at five, but that it is because in comparison to US, the starting-out type of books in Russia are in what is about third-grade level reading in US. I guess it was because of that book that I enjoy and read about history so much.

My other major interests are: reading (history non-fiction, historical fiction, sci-fi, alternate history), writing, building models, sketching, politics, economics, biology and astronomy, as well as psychology. Quite a bit of interests, but I read books very quickly, so I have time for all of them. I am currently enrolled in a law program in my high school and plan on studying for a lawyer (in a law school) after university.

I began playing computer games, specifically RTS games when I was 11. My first two games were Age of Empires II and Age of Mythology. I began playing TW games in general just last year, while in the beginning of 10th grade. By that time I had a couple of RTS games I wasn't playing anymore and I had a good friend who I knew would like them. So I gave him a couple of my CDs and he in turn presented me with a copy of RTW. I played the game from autumn to late spring of that school year until I grew bored and wanted to try out something new, something without the LS and Arcani, something that was more historically accurate and in-depth. I already knew about the fact that there were a ton of mods for RTW, so I did a bunch of research and decided to download either EB or RTR. However, the campaign map and the RTR units looked uncomfortably similar to the vanilla ones, so I opted for EB. It looked like the most complete, radically different and lively mod of them all and plus it was also the most historically accurate one too, so that's why I chose EB v1.1 in April of this year.

I also began frequenting these forums in March of this year, before I actually downloaded EB. I was a lurker, but I read and followed every thread. By May I was going to join .Org, but I knew that I would be out of US for the whole summer, so I put it off until August, when I came back from my annual travels.

In 9th grade, been playing RTS since 4th grade when a friend introduced me to Age of Empires II. I then found a friend who we did these "simulation battles" with in 6th grade. Asked him what he based it off, he said M2TW. I found RTW and liked it, but read the Wikipedia article on RTW, which pointed out it was historically inaccurate, which I agreed with (Look at those Egyptians). I saw RTR and EB in the mods, and clicked on the EB link first. Look where I am now.

EDIT: Weird, Pontus Pilate and I found the game the same way.

15-year old student from the Netherhax Netherlands. Also a multi-instrumentalist folk musician, playing the bagpipes, squeezebox, harmonica, tin whistle and bodhrán.

I ran across EB once while playing RTR: PE, and I stuck with it afterwards.

Actually, my deepest, dearest hope is to see Abokasee's story of how he got around to EB and what he consumed that made him see Bartix as a faction in EB.

...To try to change the course of history

I'm chemistry student, from faculty of science... and I played Koinnon Hellenon campaign to protect Athens and Syracousai, hoping to pump out more Philoshopers and Scientists, and make a better Hellenic wolrd...

Sadly, the Romans still took the Syracuse somewhere in 68 BC, as my garrison of 8 hoplitai haploi, one toxotai, and one puppet general (I use type 3 Gov on them), killed by a horde full of Roman legionaires... (my fault to let the Romans fill the western wolrd with Her Red Armies...) ... I just wonder, does Archimides fought the Romans as Hoplite and still get killed? or does he killed as he draws his last math problems? (I bet the Romans are poor at math)

My Projects : * Near East Total War * Nusantara Total War * Assyria Total War *
    * Watch the mind-blowing game : My Little Ponies : The Mafia Game!!! *

I only see one post at a time(Don't know how to change it), so I got bored of reading them all.
I did read the first couple and the last couple. Well, to go on, I'm 20 years young, I live in Texas, America and go to college here. College takes up most of my day time and then working at a freakin' Subway takes up my nights. So, usually I only have 1-3 hours to play EB a day, just because I sacrifice my much needed sleep. With some 211 Steel Reserves and some cigarettes, EB is so much more fun!
That's how my nights go when I play EB and the only other games I play are anywhere from Total War games, J-RPGs and my favorite PS2 game of all time... Romance of the Three Kingdoms! OH! I can't believe I almost forgot, I also work on the mod that I'm part of, it's called Rise of the Nations: Prelude to War. Long title right? I also have friends in many foreign countries that I talk to. That's about it for my boring lifestyle onto the next boring life story...

I started playing Real time stategy games when i was 10 or 11, first command and conquer then age of empires. As I was and still am interested in history I've got more and more involved in modding. Now I'm working on a mod for Aoe3^^. some of my friends already suggested Rome Total war to me but I realy hated the omnipresent concentration on Rome(ok, it's the name of the game dugh) and several desine issues(and Arcani, depiction of "barbarians" ... of course) this prevented my from getting a copy. Then i swaped some game for MTW2. I liked it tho it ran utterly slow on my PC. This led me to eventually buy RTW AFTER! i found EB. since then I try to play a turn a day, and I'm shure that that was one of my best downloads^^.
