Ammunition:
Ships should not run out of ammunition in a single battle! I seriously doubt that they want to keep track of ship ammunition in the campaign. Each time a ship lands in a friendly port it would resupply anyway.
I would prefer that they not actually bother with artillery either. The game would not allow sharing of ammunition between batteries or even individual guns without some very complex routines if it could be worked out…It is best to just leave cannon ammunition alone unless they plan a limit for special ammunition types. Even there however you loose the ability to share/scavenge/scrounge ammunition from that exploded or abandoned gun.
Infantry ammunition is another issue in deed! Most British units carried only about twenty cartridges into battle and perhaps a few ball and some powder maybe.
Other forced carried more.(Roger’s standing order was for 60) Why this should be a research point is beyond me. There should be some way to implement standing orders to your troops as to the ammunition requirements…But if it is increasable by the tech tree, then so be it.
I am also wondering about ammunition types for infantry. Double ball, buck & ball, and shot all come to mind…
