    Default The Imperial Codex

    The Imperial Codex

Being a concise and accurate guide to ruling an Empire or Nation in these modern times

In these troubled times a Ruler might wish that there existed some form of manual or guide which he might consult before deciding on important state matters. I, Lord de Beane III, have consulted with and interviewed over one hundred of the greatest minds of this fine age. I have used their combined knowledge, and much of my own, in order to pen and print this one-of-a-kind manuscript that may function as a ready assistant to a ruler in need of guidance.

This guide may be considered to be an Omnibus of four smaller works, each having it’s own individual title. They are as follows:

Encyclopaedia Bellum – an exhaustive and informative guide to those facts and figures which a competent ruler might need to know in the administration of his Empire.

The Art of Statecraft – concerning decisions made on the Global scale, and dealing with the weighty subjects of economics and strategy.

    The Field Marshall’s Guide
    – concerning the art of war upon the battlefield, and techniques with which a competent leader might defeat his enemy.

The Captain’s Log – concerning the art of war upon the briny ocean waves, and containing much advice on the proper utilisation of the tall ship.

Out of Character: If you haven't guessed this is the introduction for a guide to ETW. Yes, the whole thing will be written like that. No, it probably won't be finished very quickly. But when it is you can read it while playing and you totally won't have to break immersion. The encyclopadia bellum will be finished first, it will be a summary of the various actions, provinces, units, cities and everything else. I'll do more once I have the game, but I needed to do something so the wait didn't drive me insane.

So what do you think? Sound like a fun idea or should I leave the guides to the professionals?

Do you guys thing the style of writing is ok? I'm going for faux 18th century, but it could probably use improvement. And I can tone it down if it makes things more readable.

So far that is not too OTT. Using that style will improve your scrabble game too.

I'm rather good at Scrabble actually . Which is possibly why writing in that kind of style was easier than I thought it would be.

I shall accede to your knowledge of the scrabble board, How some ever, you may wish to consider otherwise the title of your naval tome. Such a title is trite and crass.

It is not suited to a truly professional undertaking of such significance.

One could be a bit more ostentatious in their phraseology and avoid such inane terms.

Perhaps you can find a more suitable name for a Nautical Compendium.

    Good idea Beanie!

"Encyclopaedia bellum" ... can we put bellum in the genitive plural for "encyclopaedia bellorum"? Or even better, an adjective for "encyclopaedia bellicos". And how his that section distinguished from statecraft?

Niiiice, I really like that as n intro. Are you thinking about putting it in the wiki, and we could all discuss and contribute to it? (Crowdsourcing FTW)

My Steam download's lack of a manual means that I, for one, would heartily welcome such a tome. Particularly one coming from such a learned scholar as yourself sir.

So this hasn't been made yet, right?

I would like to help out..
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    WELCOME TO AVSM
Cool store, bro! I want some ham.
    No ham, pepsi.
They make deli slices of frozen pepsi now? Awesome!
You also need to purchase a small freezer for storage of your pepsi.
It runs on batteries. You'll need a few.
Uhh, I guess I won't have pepsi then. Do you have change for a twenty?
You can sift through the penny jar

    An update!

I have the game. I'll be playing for a few days, to get a feel for things. Then I'll start writing.

Encyclopaedia Bellum – basically a big list of factions, provinces, units and things of that sort. The sort of guide you can glance at if you want to know what provinces France start with say.

The Art of Statecraft – a campaign map strategy guide, with helpful hints and the like

The Field Marshall’s Guide – battle map strategy guide, with info about formation and tactics

The Captain’s Log (I might change this name) - naval map strategy guide, with info on tactics and similar things.

Thanks for all the offers of help I have recieved! . Once I start the guide I'm sure I can find something for everyone to do. Probably raw data collection, and contributing tips and tricks.

The actual guide itself will probably be written entirely by me, in 18th century style. I'm also going to attempt to make the guide as funny as I can. I'm aiming for entertaining and informative. That means it will probably take quite a while to finish however.
