Well I have only had out of memory crashes and this fixed it for me.
On TWC there are some more fixes that help some people with the same problem so the fix depends on people's computers.
As for the fix

Just follow the instructions, it's easy.
But you have to do the CFFexplorer fix everytime CA releases a patch since I notice that they always updates their exe-files in the patches overwriting your changes.
And as I said, can't promise that it will work for you. It worked for me and some others.
But it's a fast and easy thing to do and won't damage or destroy your game so it doesn't hurt to give it a try.
Edit: I suggest you follow my link since I forgot you had to do something in the command prompt.
Since I played Flight Simulator X the command prompt was something I did some time ago.
