It is said in the FAQ that in 172 you have the Marian reforms if you make all the right conditions.
I did so, and I am now at 170 already and no reforms yet.
The two family members who have the right stat were possible reformers before 172 and now they are reformer but nothing happens? Anyone an idea who this is possible?
maybe because you can't have 2 reformers of something?
    thanks in advance!

    Question Re: reforms

I always find it interesting how often people have problems with getting to the Marian Reforms... They were pretty easy for me, but I advanced straight from Camillian to Marian.

First of all, did you activate the script? Second, are you in your Polybian Era?

yeah, I once couldn't activate the script because I saved a battle during the AI turn but I directly afterwards activated the script so this couldn't be a problem i think. And I am in the polybian era.

Hmm, odd. I also had my moments where I forgot the script, but that did not have any influence, as I still got my Marians. The only other choice is the two conflicting characters I suppose.

I suppose we will just have to wait until an EB member shows up with an explanation...

I've done that a few times.

I don't think not running the script would destroy your game, but just cause the AI factions to go bankrupt in a few turns. I think it also does a few other things, that won't make the game unplayable, but certainly not EB and generally no fun.

Cool store, bro! I want some ham.
    No ham, pepsi.
They make deli slices of frozen pepsi now? Awesome!
You also need to purchase a small freezer for storage of your pepsi.
It runs on batteries. You'll need a few.
Uhh, I guess I won't have pepsi then. Do you have change for a twenty?

Maybe I could send one to his early dead, he is already 62 so in any case he won't last to long.
if that doesn't work then I am out of options

Yeah, save your game, kill the bloke in a battle and see if it works. Or, if you can do it, remove his reformer trait and some other perquisite trait that enabled him to become the reformer, such as populares. Adding and removing traits is quite tricky however...

Make sure you have enough Latifundae.

That seemed to be the problem in my campaign. I think I had to built more than the number the FAQ said (though that may have something to do with the City Mod and some changes I made to the City Mod to get the March of Time working...).

    use "add_population 4000, add_money 40000 and process_cq City_Name" to build them quickly.

I have latifundia in almost every city I own
I think that in every Italian city i have a latifundia.
But doesn't the trait reformator means that the requirements were met?

Apparently not... at least not with me.

Double check all the requirements (regions, battles).
Play a few turns and see what happens (save your game first, so you can come back when nothing happens...).

    Good luck!

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    -At least the year 172BC
-Have more than 6 Latifundia built in Italy
    -Hold at least 45 settlements
    -Fight more than 250 battles
    -Have a character that is:
    Sharp/Charismatic/Vigorous
    Popularis
    Consul or Ex-Consul
    Has Influence > 2
    Has Command > 2
    OR
    -Conquer 90 settlements.

Dunno if that will help you, personally never got that far.

BTW you using the script, I assume you are if you got the Polybians, but you gotta ask.

Maybe its the 250 battles thing.
Fighting isn't about winning, it's about depriving your enemy of all options except to lose.

Forget those Marian Reforms. Wait until 111 BC, have a character who is sharp, charismatic, vigorous and good looking (like me) and get the Swissbarbarian Reforms, to have access to Phalangitai Romani, arrowproof and also excellent in close combat.

    nobody who has another suggestion?
Maybe I could change the requirements for marian reforms, by for example change the conquer 90 settlements, but I have no idea how to do it, anyone knows how to do this? or someone who could upload the altered file? I would be in your debt for eternity!

    Go to : \Rome - Total War\EB\Data\scripts\show_me
    Open EBBS_SCRIPT.txt

    There find: ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; MARIAN TRIGGER

    Now go to :
    ;Unconditional Player Reforms
    monitor_event FactionTurnEnd FactionType seleucid
    and FactionIsLocal
    and I_CompareCounter Romanii_Reform = 1
    and I_NumberOfSettlements seleucid > 89

    set_counter Romanii_Reform 2
    set_counter MarianReformsAdvisor 1

    terminate_monitor

    end_monitor

change the number in italics to as many provinces you have. As soon as you have more provinces than that indicated in the number in italics you will get the reform.

Ps. For the 45 settlement trigger you need Latifundia in 6 of the following:
    Segesta
    Bononia
    Patavium
    Arretium
    Ariminum
    Roma
    Capua
    Arpi
    Taras
    Rhegion

PPs. the roman triggers may be broken I had to manually intiate my Polybian reforms.

    Bah!! too late.

In the three years of war, necessity gave birth to invention. During those three years, we built bombs, we built rockets, we designed and built our own delivery systems. For three years, blockaded without hope of imports, we maintained engines, machines, and technical equipment. We spoke to the world through a telecommunications system engineered by local ingenuity. In three years of freedom, we had broken the technological barrier. In three years, we became the most civilized, the most technologically advanced black people on earth."
