Well, I can lead them back to Epeiros. It doesn't make sense to disband legions without being able to replace them immediately, when we're at war with several factions. Just call me back to italy when you know exactly what to do.

Disbanded to save money... like it's about to happen to legio II and maybe legio I which very accidently also is led by one of our house *conspiracy theory*![]()

considering i am in your house, i'm not conspiring to anything ;)
I really just was under the impression that navarro wanted to discharge the legion, to replace it with raw recruits.
SO I thought: why not make a few extra bucks by delaying recruitment? Might do our treasury some good..
That's all there is to it, not really a conspiracy I'd say :)
The whole loan thing is just somethign I wanted so I could pull off my legions reforms WITH expedites :)
Navarra, is the library up2date? Did I only serve in 1 battle? :s Thought it was more.
I'm curious to see how many Character Points everyone will have under the new rules ^^
you, yes, but your second personality's notbesides, it was a joke
you served at least in 2 battles, 1 under your dad and 1 under Avlvs

Well it's hard to keep track of all my personalities...
I don't always know which one is up to what ;-)
Just to point out, this isn't entirely correct. I've had units "lose" experience by retraining them. You can argue it's too lenient in it, though, but it's not as bad as in this example.Originally Posted by mini

NEVER! While i enjoy realism, it is simply to much work on our CoF, as well as time consuming, to put them back together. They stay home yes, as if on leave or disbanded you choose your own RP there, but for the time being they just come home simply as an officer switch.
*All rule changes should be done today, sorry about the delay its just been hard i had to figure out what to keep and what to lose.
Most or every soldier in Legio II likely comes from Rome (if we are to be technical, everyone did, and in any case none came from Taras), seeing as it's named from where it was raised, and Legio II is called Latium. That's why I say being in Taras doesn't mean they being back home, and no, you can't just pretend they went there when they didn't so you can ignore that argument.Originally Posted by Navarro
Well okay, you can as you're the GM, but I don't think that would be a good show at all.
I very much respect that you don't use FOW either, and if Swiss had to do that to find out, I motion that we ignore that post of his (and consequently my response), and go with "an elite force" (or whatever we can get with the fog on). If we can't see it with fog on, we shouldn't see it at all.
How about a compromise on this legion thing, though? The legions could disband for new soldiers to be recruited every second time it comes back? As I've said, I just don't want too strongly experienced legions because it unbalances the game, and we will get that unless we do disband regularly.

yes, they are from Latium, but still 6 months is more than enough to get from Taras to Rome. As navarro said, we Roleplay our Chars to be in Rome, though they are far away, but our Soldiers we cannot roleplay to have free time to visit home?
And no again, I did not use any cheat, the enemy army is visible in the way I posted it for anyone.

because it fits your arguments?

Well, partly.Lets both be honest about this and say that if a Carthaginian army had come out of Sicilia during those 6 months, you would not have said "sorry, Legio II can't do anything about it, because their soldiers are in Rome", and you're making this up is just now to counter my (or actually, mini's - I just stole it) argument.
It's still not just that though, as it takes much more organization - and thus even more time - to give leave to a whole legion to on their own go to Rome, then reorganize and then go back to Taras. If they're not actually going to be disbanded either, then I think they should at least have to go to the city itself.
But in my humble opinion navarro's right, it really would become to complicated. We can "overrealizise" the game..

All im saying is it doesnt make since, in game wise, to just disband armies only to create them a turn later, which we would. you have to remember the AI doesnt think like we do. I mean tomorrow we could be attacked by any faction for no reason and its like OH sorry are soldiers are disbanded on leave, gimme a sec to get THAT thing back together!
So? That's realistic!
Rome did not have immortal armies of god-men who patrolled the peninsula at all times!
If anything, if the situation is serious enough you could call up some levies with add_unit. If that's not an option, well, the enemy had good intelligence and struck during the creation of a new legion.

If we don't disband them, they will become overpowered killing machines because of how experience works for the game. It kills the joy and makes it too easy to win. I mean, if it's easy to win with the armies we have now, how easy isn't that with silver chevroned units, or even better ones?
We really don't need that, the Roman campaign is easy enough without it anyway.
But it can take ages to build an army...if we needed one quick, it could be a problem.

I see the problem and agree, that we should not have too many experienced soldiers in our armies.
But to cheat armies, as it was proposed, is not realistic either. We would boost population in our cities, for when we cheat units, the citizens stay as many as they are, but if we disband these units, they got added to the population.

I suppose we could 'upgrade' units. If a unit of Hastati become veterans, we can disband them ingame, but use the console to create experienced Principes. Same step for Principes to Triarii, and maybe Leves to Hastati if they became wealthy or old enough whilst on campaign. That would mean our lower troops were recruited afresh regulary (after each campaign), but our more experienced soldiers remain, but in better equipement. Does this make sense to anyone?![]()

jeeezus...getting so outta hand, as if we already dont have enough things that will require console use what with the family finances, events etc. TCV, you say that like in WotB we disband our armies??? They get experience all the time no one debates it there, i dont see how that is any different in BtSH. Im not saying its realistic, im sayin its practical. The legions stay, there are still going to be tough situations regardless of unit experience; we have much to expand to in the future.
I demand a vote!
This is a demokratia!
This is a res publica!
Really guys, in the end navarro is the guy who has to keep track of all these things, and if something like this will make the game a hassle instead of fun for him, Then you might as well start your own game. Its not fair to just say this is how it should be without thinking about the effort goes into getting this game running. so yeah go ahead and vote, on the settings for your own game.
