Default v 1.03: new diplomatic "item": unreliable ally (and a suggestion)

Post 1.03 there seems to be a new diplomatic relationship item: "unreliable ally", which hits relationships with a -25 point penalty. The penalty decreases over time.

The penalty seems to be "global" if alliance is not honored when an ally is attacked and local (just with the respective ally), if an alliance is not honored when an ally is the attacker (and invites the player). The local penalty seems to apply also, if during a war joined by both allies, the player signs a peace-deal with the enemy before the AI faction does.

That latter part of this feature bugs me a bit. I have had a situation in which my faction and my ally have beaten the enemy to pulps. The enemy agrees to sign a peace deal with me and that results in a diplomatic penalty with my ally. I can see the logic for the penalty, but diplomatically, there seems to be no way to sign a 'global armistice' forcing the enemy to sign peace with both allied parties at the same time.

I think, it would be a good idea to incorporate "sign peace with X" diplomatic proposal into the game. That way, it might be possible to entice my ally to sign peace with the enemy too (giving them some of the conquered territory or something...).

That was definitely in 1.2, and even before as well IIRC. I don't remember if the penalty was that large though.
Ancestry: Turkish & Irish. Guess my favorite factions!

I guess, I missed it then. Before 1.03, I remember seeing only "alliances not honored" penalty if I did not join a war in which an ally was defending.

Think this is a big reason for all the "random" DoW complaints?

Might as well be. But since I am not versed in reading the campaign AI trigger files, I cannot tell for sure.

I know there was as penalty for signing a peace treaty before my allies did - I got it often enough. It might have been called "alliances not honored"?

I've been thinking.....I never got a "random" DoW before in my games....I also don't make alliances with anyone until very late in the game. I generally have very good relations with most factions. Guess you can't take a bad rep hit if you don't have any friends

Before 1.03 I saw "alliance not honored" in the case I did not join my ally who was defending. I think, "unreliable ally" is a new thing. At least, I did not notice it before 1.03 and I had been examining the diplo relations screen quite often.
