my school required 180hours by the end of your senior year before you could graduate... Luckily they had 4 day weeks in feb march april during your senior and junior year to do the 180 hours.
Tho' I've belted you an' flayed you,
By the livin' Gawd that made you,
You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!

Wow, maybe dropping high school and picking up my GED actually had an advantage.

I'm torn, on the one hand I'm not sure they should be forcing people to do community service (kind of takes the point out of volunteering) and on the other I can't see how it would hurt anyone to have to...

I guess when I start to sympathize in the slightest with making kids do things they don't want to it's a sign of my impending old age (a decrepit 25 right now ).

Me: High School Sucks, I'm just going to perma-ditch.
Dad: Get Your GED or I'll make you suffer a kind of hell that you can't possibly Imagine.
    Me: *Runs to get GED*

    4 Years Later

Dad: Why haven't you gotten yourself a decent job yet?
    Me: Job Market Sucks.
Dad: Do something about it. You're off my payroll
Me: *curses silently and goes to College.*

    4 Years Later

Wife: Why are you still going to College?
Me: Having a Masters is a Good Idea.
Wife: Do you have plans on ever doing anything with your degree?
    Me: Just tying off loose-ends.
Wife: Wouldn't it have made sense to just get a Bachelors in Business?
Me: Maybe. I can always go back later if I feel the need to get a degree in Business.
Wife: I'd like you to be at the house more often.
Me: I'm at the house everyday, I have to have some excuse to leave!

If it helps you can tell her my father has a Master's in Business Administration and it hasn't done him much good lately.
