map size

Hello everyone,

First I will apologise if my question has already been answered. I had just one query on the map size, as written in the faq:

'Q: Is the campaign map larger?
A: Both Rome - Total War and Medieval 2 - Total War have the same hardcoded number of provinces (199), so no new settlements can be added to the game. However, the scale of map will increase (approximately 1.3x).'

Does scale mean unit size? or does scale mean (i.e) a bigger 'boot' of Italy?

Will we see any expansion further south east? I know it is probably asking too much but would we ever consider an Indian faction? Or is there going to be expansion further north east where we could have a glimpse at an early Mongolian faction?

Just one last question, I was looking at another fan based mod (Asia ton barbaron i think its called), Im not going to lie I have a major obsession with the ancient era. My question is, could we ever expand the map into a complete west to east map? ie. the east most faction being China/Japan and the west most the Lusotan?

The latter. By scale they mean that the boot of Italy will take up more of your screen than in EB.

Or is there going to be expansion further north east where we could have a glimpse at an early Mongolian faction?

Although it is possible to expand the map eastward, the team is not going to do it. To properly represent India (never mind China) a lot of province and unit slots have to be sacrificed, in exchange for an area that very much on the fringe of EB's world. These problems amplify if you want to include China: you have to spend many more faction slots for a world that, barring long-distance trade and two military expeditions, had no contact with the EB world.

China, BTW, was not a "faction" at this point, nor was Japan. I would love to see a mod focusing on China in the warring states, but this would need to be separate from EB. Trying to include them in EB would result in neither EB's world nor China being done justice.

I believe when the map was stretched to the full size possible, there were two or three tiles extra on on the horizontal. So, there will be a tiny bit more of India... maybe.
