What's the surprise? Amsterdam is not without its charm. And we've done Paris just last year (it's actually not THAT romantic anyway).
If I had it entirely my way, I'd probably go to Prague or Krakow but +800km (X2) is just a bit to far for a weekend out.
Now if only you could suggest me a good restaurant.

Can recommend you something special but it's not in Amsterdam, Amsterdam is packed with good restaurants can't go wrong really. I would go to 'De Monikkendam' in my place Amersfoort and eat there, food isn't very special but if you are on time you can have a dinner for two in the towerchamber, no extra fee.

Now that's really something to consider.

    Thanks Frag

It's an old town, it's pretty much intact, very beautiful place.

She still might say no (although I doubt it).

Try Copenhagen. I love that place. There's nothing better than sitting in a warmed deck on Nyhavn in winter, wrapped in a blanket, surrounded by snow. Bliss...

Copenhagen is also a bit to far but I might consider it for a regular holiday.

Well, it's less than 6 hours by train... Plus you get a ferry ride included with that...

Even better if you get that power-ferry, damn that thing is fast. Copenhagen rocks, love Tivoli. Shame it's a bit on the expensive side.
