    Default Levi-Strauss Dies

One of the greatest thinkers of our time has finally kicked it...

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...-aged-100.html

I didn't know where to post this, but considering his views have cause loud debates before I thought it would be only fitting for the denizens of the Backroom to publicly lament his passing.

I suppose we should, along with wishing him to rest in peace, perhaps have a discussion about his fascinating studies and beliefs.

I'll post a wiki summary of the great man.

I really liked his comfort fit jeans design even though they were always a little cozy in my crotch area.

Interesting how the one Levi Strauss died just before the other was born.

He really did have a good idea or three, and ended up spurring others towards more.

    They're all gone.

All the great philosophers, the entire panthéon of twentienth century philospohy. Each one to Paris an Invalides, a Madeleine, an Opéra. Whom shall now take over the torch and illuminate the world?

It's odd to think that he was made an immortal by the Académie back in the early seventies, at the end of his career, and then he lived on to see an entire generation of followers, sometimes born after that, grow up to be become famous themselves.

That Gilbert Gottfried is still alive? You may not like him, but that is just harsh, man.

Huh. So not the blue jeans guy?

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.
