The French-Swiss war continued almost like in previous months. France was the offencive side and destroyed small Swiss army in Milan. Half of that territory is occupied by French and most likely the other half will fall soon too. While Louis XIII armies were victorious in Italy, their campaign in Germany was stopped by large Swiss army when they tried to occupy a small province near the border of Switzerland.
In Austria, Ferdinand II called the Catholic League with it's army to help him against the Ottoman Empire. Soon both Imperial and Leagues armies moved against their enemy and occupied most of Hungary and few provinces on the coast of Adriatic Sea. After defeating a small Ottoman force near Transylvania they finally understood why there had been so few enemy soldiers defending the border. Mighty forts were built by the Turks and without the siege artillery it was impossible to continue this campaign.
Other news from Europe mention that in south, both Portugal and Spain gained new territories. Spain received lands in Italy from small states who looked for protection while Portugal started the conquest of Algeria. In Southern Germany, Saxony united more states under it's rule. They took some lands just days before Bohemians could claim them. This can't be good for the relations of these two states. In Scandinavia, Sweden gathered troops and ships near Kattegat and in Eastern Europe Transylvania increased it's size after they received some lands in Moldavia from the Ottomans.

More money or else!
The excessive recruitment of mercenaries have made them too arrogant. They demand more money!
From this turn onwards all mercenary units recruitment cost and upkeep have been doubled.
Guns'n'Cannons!
After the French lost a battle against the Swiss Pikemen, rulers of the European states demanded better cannons and guns to defeat those Pikemen from distance in the future.
New units: Musketeers of the Guard, Dragoons and Field Artillery with new stats.
In order to get these, players must:
1)declare one of their cities as their capital(if it is lost then player will receive PO penalty and he can not recruit upgraded units).
2)pay 10000$ to "upgrade their barracks and industry".
New units can be recruited only in capitals.
These units are not available for Ottomans, Transylvania and Russia.

Couldn't you do the others then? So diplomatically speaking, I only hold claim to that land? I don't mind doing that, makes the talks between me and France more interesting.
(Since I was going to be the owner of that hex, could the whole deal go ahead without that hex changing from France's hands?)

I'm going to restore the lands of the Rhenish Palatinate back to the Elector Palatine, the King of Bohemia. So, I think the Hex I currently occupy, plus the ones to the North and South East of it would be afair approximation of the Paltinate's lands (Whilst I keep Alsace for myself)

Since that hex was in that deal then I decided not to go with it. However, if both sides agree that they want to go ahead with the deal no matter what then I will carry them out. In the end of this turn though.

With France's comment, I will keep my lands as they are, possibly do an alternative deal later. Looks like France just spoke about removing lands from my control.

For the record, I wish no ill will on the Netherlands, but I did promise to restore Bohemia's lands to them a few pages back.
I mean no ill-will, but if you go down that route, I won't be sitting by while you do it.

If he build siege artillery, can I fire back at him with field artillery?
Also who controls that blue army on my border?
Finally, in the write-up you said Wallachia couldn't get the units, as well as me and Whitey. Is that a typo or does that mean the blue army is Wallachia?

1) No, but you can use that field artillery when he attacks your fort.
Siege artillery only lowers the defence of the fort. It does not take it nor can Cavalry units attack the fort.
2) That army belongs to Austria. It's Catholic League army(something that Austria can use when he wants).
Wherever my blade takes me or to school, it sorta depends

Re: The Thirty Years War
yeah im pretty sure that deal should go through...... i gave him the items e requested...... i still want what remains to me. If the french took a square the rest of the land should still go to me since it is not really switzerlands fault. France remove yourself from s. germany. The saxon people by the divine right of god and the right of holy matrimony lay claim to that which we now own.
so the way this is going im going to lose even more of that land which belongs to me in the next turn because france is going to have orders to take more of that land before the deal goes through.........
1) What about 6 billion mercenaries?
2) Crap?
3) Gotcha
I doubt you can afford that many mercenaries.
Also, there can't be more than 30 units in a fort/city/army.

You do know there is a way to stop France from taking those lands?
I'll go to bed now. You should receive your report PM's tomorrow after I get back from work.
