I finished it about 6 months ago.
The storyline is good, although somewhat too Hollywoodian, graphics are amazing, so you got plenty of eye candy.
The action, the battles itself, are a tad too arcade and sometimes even Call of Duty style, so don't expect much in that area. What I found really amazing was the immersion provided by the game and the very good audio soundtrack, really made you feel like you were RIGHT there and were holding the gun in your hand.
And some scenes were downright scary honestly. The Nazi hospital scene was just freaky, and for those who really are into history and know about those periods a lot, it just sends shivers down your spine.
Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.

Is that his leg? Ew!
Seriously though you might want to put a spoiler tag on that sev, the mods are pretty finicky about swearing I dont think they would be very tolerent with gore.
The gore seems a little over-the-top...

Greyblades is correct; we don't like extreme gore on this site. A lot of members have young children, and don't want to accidentally expose them to that kind of imagery.
Thank you for spoiler tagging the screenshot.![]()
Frogbeastegg's Guide to Total War: Shogun II. Please note that the guide is not up-to-date for the latest patch.
The game is not really tactical to be honest. There's only one, maybe but rarely two options to go around them and you don't have to think much before you figure out what's going on. I loved the trailers before it, I thought it would be amazing, but it's not something overly impressive.

I've beat the first one and the third one. I like how they changed the format to a more 1st-3rd person style, and the map is a lot easier to navigate now.
My dad is really into all of them. He will probably buy the Battle of the Bulge based 4th one that'll be coming inevitably.
Personally, if I want tactical simulation I'll just get that one army one, what was that called?
"You must know, then, that there are two methods of fight, the one by law, the other by force: the first method is that of men, the second of beasts; but as the first method is often insufficient, one must have recourse to the second. It is therefore necessary for a prince to know well how to use both the beast and the man.

I agree with this. I thought it was a "realistic" tactical shooter, which sounded interesting. But the linear and scripted nature is something of a put off. I prefer shooters where you have lots of freedom to go anywhere, attack how you like etc. Plus I hated the poor weapon handling and accuracy - it just felt wrong. I think they forced a "suppress - flank - assault" tactic through the game engine as the one and only way to play rather than merely encouraging it through level design. The fact that I was absolutely useless at playing it was probably another factor contributing to my dislike.
For tactical military-type shooters, I much preferred Vietcong 1, Ghost Recon 1 and even Stalker.
