    Angry Make children dammit!

So I'm trying to roleplay as Casse, not adopting or marrying anyone into the family. My faction leader, Barae, has two sons. The thing is, they don't get any children. One of the sons has a daughter, but that's it. I don't use them in the field or anything. They've both been governing cities for years. One of the two sons has a -1 fertility trait, but the other doesn't. It would be quite a pain to lose my campaign because of my stupid FM's bedroom problems. (sorry 'bout that one)

So, my question is: Is there any good way to aquire fertility traits/ancillaries for your FM:s? I can cheat if that's possible.

errrr, doesn't it say in Barae's biography that part of his policy was precisely to adopt "charismatic youths" as rulers in his service ???
Ongoing Campaigns: Baktria, Casse, Koinon Hellenon, Pahlava.

    Abandoned/Failed Campaigns: Aedui-Epeiros-Pontos-Saba-Saka Rauka-Sauromatae. (I'll be back though!)

Uhm, it actually does. Had forgotten about that one xD. Anyway, I still want heirs that are of royal blood.

I tried the console command 'give_trait "Mowg ofcatuvellauni" "Fertile" 3'. I didn't get any error message, but Mowg doesn't seem to have the trait in his traits list. :/

Try EBFertile 3 or EbFertile 3. It's a new trait added by the team.

Or... what numbers of provinces that you have? The FM numbers (and child spawning) and province controlled seems to be heavily corellated. If you only get 3 or 4 provinces, that's why Barrae's childrens have a bedroom problem.

look, don't be too hard on yourself. its not at all your fault if barae/his sons can't stand at attention.

besides, adoptions and marriages should fix your problem. you shouldn't really be so monarchical when your faction is so small: meritocracy is a FAR better course. once one family consistently produces good men, you can make that family into a monarchical dynasty, though personally I only do that for role-playing (especially with AS).

In my current AS campaign (right now its on hiatus), I started with the ruling family, and 2-4 families. by adopting/promoting/marrying "better men" into my family, I now have 16 families or so, each ruling a particular area as feudal lords-basically imitating Parthian governance:

    the seleukids still rule all.
    vassals:
    the medikoi rule in Africa.
    the persikoi rule in persia
the ioudaikoi rule in Anatolia and the levant.
the baktrioi (bribed) rule in Baktria (duh?)
the babylonikoi rule over the borderlands of Parthia (now under my rule)
the syriakoi (seleukid or otherwise) are spread out through the empire.

oddly, the ioudaikoi don't control Hierosolyma-that's Medikou turf.

    and the list goes on.

My Casse Campaign's far simpler, So long you're a <something> Vi/Di Britannia, you're allowed to lead the 'Great Army' as the heir.

Is Lelouch a plausible name in EB's timeframe?

The number of possible children is limited by the province you posses. Conquer more lands, then you will have more children.
Increasing the fertile by trait should help to increase the number also, but there is still a point, where the chances are going to zero.

    Thanks for the answers :)

I might consider marrying people into the family later but, early in the campaign, I think that your "real" royal bloodline disappears too easily if you do that.

Anyway, I've conquered all of Britain except Ireland and I've only got three family members. Additionally, I'm constantly asked to adopt people - so I don't think that too few provinces is the cause.

    Genava: I'll try EbFertile. Thanks

Nope. I've had them govern cities for pretty much their entire lives.

You should consider a bathhouse, maybe those wifes have to wash themselves in order not to stink, maybe they'l get children then

IIRC the choices to adopt a FM/Moth and the birth of a new child to this father except each other per round. Don't quote me for the truth in that case, won't you?

So, maybe the acceptance of the adoption could lead to newborns to the other FM's if they are in some way "blocked" by your FL with three kids

Another pertinent question is, why the Sharp/Charismatic/Vigorous hero with 8 stars and 2 scrolls and leaves, and a fine wife gets two sons of the same sort, then his line die out despite fine wifes with them as well, doctors, mistresses, etc while the Dull/Uncharismatic/langorous fools breed like rabbits even if I send them to hold a fort alone in enemy lands and quickly die from siege (Baktria has few piarcy-hunting opportunities till late in the game)

Is there any way to do selective breeding of FMs?

Including cheats, I do not mind if they make sense, and it makes sense to me that handsome and charismatic commander-national heroes with healthy wifes, mistresses, beautiful prostitutes, doctors, prime health and vigour and sharp minds would continue fornicating until they have 2+ sons each of the same sort. If I were them with that sort of accomplishments and entourage I would do little else but fornicate with as many women as possible. I know from experience that little makes you so roused as a good fight and victory.

Like someone posted here before, I can recommend the EBFertile 3 trait. I like breeding dynasties when I play as the AS or the Makedonians and I have had great sucess with that trait. It almost garanties your FM will have children, and normally at least one son.

Here is my family tree in an old AS campaign of mine, it is 63BC and my faction leader is still a descendant of the first faction leader. I started using give_trait EBFertile 3 with Kallinikos, his grand-son, when I became worried the family would die out.

As for FMs I don't want to have children you could try EBInfertile 3, but I haven't tested that as I usually find a way to kill those guys off.

Yeah, it is a trait given through a console command (give_trait "Kallinikos Syriakos" EBFertile 3). It shows up ingame as "Prolific".

Mine were pretty slow in making babies, but then all of a sudden everybody just started getting busy. Though I do wonder how a couple in their mid forties suddenly started popping out children every few years.

Hi. Can somebody please tell me if the console command takes into account the provinces=FM's thing?Or they get down to business no matter what?
Also, it doesn't seem to work for roman FM, the nomen, cognomen, gens names pose a problem, for me atleast...would anybody help my generals make babies?

The console command just gives you FM a trait that makes him more fertile. That means if you have enough provinces, he is more likely to have children. Of course there will always be FMs without children, especially if you do not expand continously or if you have lots of FMs.

The roman FMs have invisible traits that make them less fertile. This was implemented to encourage adoptions, as the Romans were not ruled by a single dynasty like the diadochoi factions.

To find out the internal name of a roman FM, you could try a cheat like character_reset, that can't do any harm to your game. If your FM is called "Manivs Aurelivs Cotta", you start typing "Manivs Romanvs", "ManivsA Romanvs" and so on till "ManivsK Romanvs". If you type the name of an existing FM, he will get his movement points reset and be selected, so you know his internal name and can give him traits through the console.

Just a small grammatical correction: the plural of all those peoples would be -oi, rather than -ou. -ou would be the genitive singular, rather than the nominative plural, which is I think what you want. -M

An easy solution is edit the character_traits.txt (dont remember the exact file name right now).
I add extra fertility to any character between 20-40 years old. I never had problems after that. And I like to remark that I have around 1.5 FM per province, so I guest this over-rules the FM/province limits. I tested in my campaigns with Rome and Epirus.
    Completed campaigns:
    1.1 Quarthadastim
    1.1 Arverni

    Actually playing:
    1.2 Koinon Hellenon
