- Four Horsemen of the Presence
The last government, eager to deter the hordes of strange unwashed furriners from coming here on leaky boats, actually made videos full of poisonous snakes, spiders, crocs, sharks, and other deadly creatures, and ran it in places like Indonesia, in order to get people to not come here. I thought it was hilarious, as if that would work! Always good to scare people off from coming here, since wedon't want strange furrinerswant tourists with money to spend.

That would only make sense if it was "South New Wales" though. And parts of Canada are more North than Wales.
Bah! The area where Cook landed looked like Wales (apparently, I've never been to Wales) and it was in the southern hemisphere, happy now? And South New Wales would be the southern area of New Wales so![]()

Well it seems nobody was quick enough to say HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!
Hope all you other Aussies got out there and put a snagger on the barbie and maybe even jumped in the pool to celebrate our big day. I know I did, and I am definately gonna pay for it tomorrow at work. Pulling a sickie anyone?
(its 9:17pm herein WA so I still made it)

Hope everyone had a good Australia day. Didn't stay too sober.
Unfortunately my pool is green. The chemical balance is all out of whack. And well, I really need it, it's been so hot the last week or so.
I had a steak and prawns on the bbq.
A friend of mines father got the Order of Australia for Medical service, etc. Which is pretty cool.

Happy Self-Titled Day, Australia!
Hope all of you guys had fun.
Twas a grand day in Perth. Cooler than it has been recently so I could enjoy the beach with mates. IIRC, it was some ~40° last week.![]()

Something I always like watching is Sam Kekovich's address to the nation, this year however it was an address to the World, the video for those not living in Australia, because everyone here has already seen it of course
Also, something that was on the radio on Monday, Hamish and Andy sung a tribute to all the Unaustralians. I am Unaustralian

Oh dear...
Australia to lose its National Anthem!!!
As it turns out, the anthem was plagiarised. More disturbingly, it is a girlie tune too, meant for campfire whistling by girl scouts.
Well this sheds new light to the meaning of the lyrics of 'Do you come from a land Down under...where the women glow and men plunder'.Australian band Men at Work have lost a federal court case in Sydney, Australia, after being sued for plagiarism over their 1981 number one US and UK hit single 'Down Under.'
The band now face paying up to 60% of the song's income, after the court ruled the song copied its flute riff from a Girl Guides song called 'Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree.' The campfire song was originally written for the 1935 Girl Guides Jamboree, by the now-deceased Marion Sinclair.

The whole thing is ridiculous because the Kookaburra tune is just a faster version of this welsh song.

This nonsense crops up every couple of years. Some ignorant jury hears a scratchy cassette that has 3 notes the same as a number 1 hit and votes to give the profits to some lowlife skimmer.
In 3 months a sensible judge will overturn this insanely ridiculous judgement.
Vote 1 the jury system: for truly surreal decisions on legal matters nothing beats 12 people being harangued by proffesional rhetors for a couple of days and then locked away until the all agree.
