anyway i've conquered the new world while playing england. but it's a very tedious process, getting troops from england to the new world. it's okay if you just need to take the rebel settlements, but this settlements start at a very low tech. it take quite a while before you can raise enough competent troops locally to face the Aztecs. despite their skimpy armor and non-metallic weapons, they mauled my full bar army of archer militias and bill militias.
