    Default WoLT: OOC thread

This is the OOC Thread for Warriors of La Tene. This thread is designed to be a simple chatroom for WoLT players. No important information will ever be posted in here. This thread does not count as a "public thread" for the purposes of the WoLT rules. . In short, this thread has no official relationship to WoLT in any capacity. It is simply a chatroom.

Probably messed up a lot more than that. Tell me where and I will do my best to keep fixing stuff.

just tell me if I need to do something else. Sorry for any mistakes.
The SOT talks about the "Basileus" and the "Chancellor", and in the Treasurer thread you write "Arjo's" - it should be "Arjos'". (The last one being a sign of armageddon, it is not something to take lightly!)

Have we lost contact with the character profiles on the second sign up thread? I can't see what my character was like.

Oh, and I'd very much appreciate it if you uploaded the first save, so I can nick it for screenshots and stuff. Its time we got the writing side of things on the go.

TCV must have deleted them from wherever they were hosted, I linked mine to my AAR and it had disappeared.

Just a query regarding the rules,

Err... no, they must've been deleted by the hosting site. Ugh. I'll just upload the save later and you can check them out yourselves.

I wouldn't exactly say it's massively excessive seeing that the Vollorix has 3, but 1 for each influence is a bit off. I thought I wrote 1 for every 2 influence points? Of course this can be tweaked.

The rationality behind this is that it's on a confederacy level, not a tribal one, so individual chiefs don't have nearly as much say as the Verrix and Vollorixes. This may not be the same within the tribes themselves, though.

By the way, CP, go fix up the rules so it looks more... presentable. Give it proper headings and all that.

Might I suggest that we also decide the reasons behind the starting positions of each of the characters, and move them if needs be. For example, TCV's character could have taken a force to Versontio in order to secure their alliegence, and that has just been achieved.

Up to a maximum of 9 then, still seems excessive as with 9 players the Verrix will only be outvoted if everybody else votes against him (3 for Vollorix, 7 other players = 10) and FLs always get 10 influence pretty quickly. How did it work in WoTB?

But since we've decided we aren't going to use the IG FL thing, you really can't use that in this calculation, so even if that's true it's not really relevant. No, not even in the beginning: I sincerely doubt that Aneirin will get 10 influence before he dies, as I've never seen that happen in my numerous games with him.

The first saved game has been uploaded so you can check around (but not change anything). This reminds me: should we cheat and give ourselves 5000 mnai and play it like the game started now, since I didn't spend anything except on RGBs?

Everyone is free to decide both where they start and why, so long as it's within the confederacy's borders. Of course, everyone's also free to give up this decision for popular vote...

If by "securing their alliegence (sic)" you mean strong-arming the Sequani, then that's not something I can consent to. (Not the least because, IIRC, the Sequani garrison is actually stronger than my force... I mean, sure, I am an awesome character and my mere presence does demand respect and obedience, but still.) We're supposed be be real allies, not master and subject, and as happened in history, the Sequani could (and with all probability, will) assume the leadership at some point. This they can do without using any devious scheme of their own, which isn't in line with them being unwilling members.

I know it is, but it doesnt have to be forceful alliegence. Your character could basically have gone there saying will you add your troops to mine, and they said yes.

Well, seeing as my character's the Verrix and he lead the Confederate army, it would make a whole lot more sense if he came to claim soldiers from you than the other way around. Then again, it could also be that I just went there to inform the Sequani Vollorix of a confederate meeting, or to talk to him about the weather - or I can just choose to start somewhere else.

Just checked the save, the FL influence won't be a problem with Aneirin but I think the issue still stands that a full influence Verrix will be almost impossible to outvote.

I agree we should give ourselves 5000 as we had to move the game on to get the RGBs.

I don't see why we can't accept that, though, having some extremely charismatic god-king ruling the confederacy. It's not like we can't avoid it, and have to elect charismatic people with the IG FL thing. We could set someone who can't/doesn't want to become Verrix as heir and then just elect someone else.

The only difference I see is you're supposed to use the new one to say about the history and placement of your character, which I always do in my SOT's anyway, so not much difference really

I divided people into Sequani/Arverni mostly based on the players, rather than the characters. For one thing keeping the tribes as closely matched as possible makes for a more even and interesting game. If I'd have gone by the traits, it'd have been like 1 Sequani vs... well, almost all others would be Arverni, and say Shylence, who has a Caturige, would be tribe-less.

The SOT post is for the sake of the Verrix when he sorts out the save, so he can easily find the building or movement orders etc., and I'd like to keep it that simple. Speeds things up to only have the relevant stuff there, and the history etc. elsewhere.

But I worship my SOT posts! You know that, TCV!

Also, can I request a transfer? I was rather hoping to start in Vesontio. I have a decent storyline to keep to up there.

And on that note, how are we deciding who's in charge of where/who's who within the two tribes? Because I can't really write about who I am yet because I don't yet know what I'm doing.

Sure thing. Put it in your SOT (*wink wink*) and I'll teleport you there. The offer's up for anyone else, too.

Well, you can talk it out with your tribemates and come to an agreement that way, or I can decide everything for you. You can trust me. I won't be partial.

Can we have inter tribes as well? Like, I'd kinda like to be the leader of my own little tribe (probably none or nonefornow other players) within the land of the Sequani, but don't want the responsibility (or combat with CDF ;D) of the whole area.

And continuing that thought, can we have our own little forts with a couple or more units to represent our own little tribes? But they all come together to form the bigger armies?

You'll have to explain a little better what exactly you're proposing here, and how this would actually work. Keep in mind that we went from three to two tribes because we are too few to get adequate competition with only 3 members.

You can make forts all you want, but they will signify no more than that.

I just thought the big tribes would be made up of lots of smaller tribes from different valleys, areas etc. and the fort could represent another, smaller city/town in the province that I was the head of, but subject to the head of my tribe, the Sequani

So your proposition is that you can build a fort and call it a "subtribe"... with "subtribe" meaning only "I am in command of a fort", in practical terms? Is that really it? If so, I see no problem with it.

I am not enthusiastic about the name "subtribe" here, though. "Town", "village" or something along those lines seem to be more apt.

Sounds like a good idea if you ask me. If for nothing else then for a little role playing...

Well, the thought was when we made the rules that the Verrix would have the place of Vollorix in his own tribe, since the Verrix would be chosen from amongst the Vollorixes. This we (me, CP and CDf) agreed would work when we thought we would have 3 tribes. Since we won't, maybe this should be changed, though I don't know how. Should the Verrix stand outside all tribes, and be... "tribeless"? Should he being Verrix be completely irrelevant in the tribal assembly, even if this means that the same man who leads the Confederation is a messenger boy in his own tribe?
