    Default Born of Hope

Some fans made a Tolkien prequel movie.

It costed 1/1000th of the price of the Peter Jackson movies. The astonishing thing: this is barely noticeable.

Oh, the wonders of modern technology and modern distribution system! These people produced a full length feature movie, of professional quality, to be released on the internet only.

It is not all that difficult either:
    - unemployed actors for the lead characters,
    - Filmed in Essex, not NEw Zealand
    - Modern technology allows for homemade CGI effects that rival anything Hollywood produced as little as five years ago,
    - For orcs, they filmed rampaging Leeds United fans.

Have a look, or, watch the entire movie:

I'd like to see someone attempt the story of the Children of Hurin. From the childhood of Turin, when he saw his father and the elflords preparing for war, to the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, then the story proper in the wake of the Nirnaeth, closing with the release of Hurin and ending with his suicide. IMHO a better story than the Hobbit and better even than LOTR. Another story, with a lot of scope for expansion due to the lack of text, is the attack on the refugees at the Mouths of Siron by the sons of Feanor, which resulted in Elwing throwing herself into the sea and Elrond and Elros being captured. Lots of acting potential between the sons of Earendil and Maedhros and Maglor, lots of drama in watching the Host of Valinor come to Middle Earth and kick arse.

No its based around the parents of Aragorn, who get all but a scant mention in the books.

Contemporaneous to the beginning of Fellowship of the Ring. It's on Youtube as well, a half-hour movie if I remember correctly.

Not as good as a Hollywood film but equal to a BBC drama series.

    Not bad at all.

Very impressive for something made by enthusiastic amateurs.

no, it's set som 80 years before Fellowshi because it includes Aragon's birth.

It was very good, certainly as good as a BBC drama, and better than the first two series of Robin Hood.

The movie is about Aragorn searching for Gollum at Gandalf's behest, and ends just before the meeting between him and the hobbits in Bree.

No, it's about Aragorn's parents meeting before he was born, and includes Aragorn's Grandfather telling his son Arathorn to discover why the Orks are attacking the Numenorians. they are looking for the King of the Kings of Arnor, not the One Ring.

Edit: Ah, I see we were talking at cross purposes. Sorry.
