Yeah, I should have lost that battle, but this result was way cooler. Winning by taking the center isn't really an exploit, it's just unrealistic, but not much is really realistic about the battles anyway. I think it should be the same rules for sieges with reinforcements as the rules for when you are defending: If you're able to lock them out of all the gates and you're safely inside, that should be a victory, the town square shouldn't matter.

You could've locked the gates by letting your infantry capture them all first, once inside the walls. Then you would've had plenty of time for drawing together all forces at once to kill the enemy king. Naked dudes up front and the cavalry with their AP axes from behind. I do this sometimes, leaving the relief army witlessly wandering around the town (getting shot at by the now-captured gates and towers, and the archers - unless they're needed in the town centre).

    Oooh that greatness!

But really, nice one. I would've tried athanaric's idea. But fighting like this is way cooler. Also Duguntz is completely right, this is no exploit.

Lucky they didn't get pushed away by the sheer mass pressing on them.

Go tell the naked dudes, stranger passing by,
that here obedient to their laws we lie.

Speaking of locking an enemy inside...
It's fun to have a small force of horsemen besiege a well defended town, have the defenders sally out, rout one of their weak units, follow that unit inside with everything you can get to it, then lock all the doors and retreat any of your troops that didn't get into the town. It cracks me up every time, watching the enemy scurry off to the other doors, only to find them locked too...
As for naked dudes, they're not bad. I just wish they were easier to recruit.

I always keep them out of battle so I can run them around behind my men allowing me to selectively expose their mutant naked glory to most fragile minds in the enemy army.

    Its good to have flexibility.
Fighting isn't about winning, it's about depriving your enemy of all options except to lose.
