I had just finished the writeup and had pressed the "go advanced" button but it showed me a page that said "token expired" and when I pressed the back button the post had vanished.

Ah screw it I'll just rush it this turn has been going on long enough.

    "Edward? Edward?"
Edward opened his eyes to a dark chamber.
"Ugh... what? Where am I?!" Called out Edward.
"Careful edward you took quite a nasty knock on your way down here." Replied a voice.
    "What who said that?"
"Don't you remember me? Pity, you had such a good memory in the old days. 'Allways remembering places, people, ounces."
    "What?"
Edward made to stand but was caught by a cord around his neck. Choking he collapsed onto the floor.
"I wouldnt be trying that again." Said the voice "'Last thing I need is you dying before I'm done"
Spluttering Edward grasped at the cord, It was a metal wire.
"What the... who the hell are you!?"
"You'll remember soon enough. Now, everyone will be waking up soon and I cant be late, it would be rude. You'll find a bottle of water and some bread to your right, I'll be back later."

Assuming Renata's detective results are correct, then Vote: Subotan must be the mafia. If not, then we have a cop-immune mafia.

Psst, you have to write "vote" in there somewhere.

I certainly hope it's not a unitary cop-immune mafia, because that would make my role rather embarrassing as well as anti-town. It does seem there is only one, though.

Alright then, let's get this over with. vote: Subotan

If there's some cleverness going on here, there's not much can be done about it now.

Indeed, let's kill the one that has cleverly gotten around being investigated. Little else we can do. Vote: Subotan.

Also, did you notice how Subo didn't jump on any of the other theories that have been suggested so far?

Yarpolk: Lord Doljonijiarnimorinar, Townie. Confined to room.
Thermal Mercury: Townie. Back of the skull caved in by shovel.
    johnhughthom: townie confined to room.
Captain Blackadder: townie, found in his room with a crossbow bolt through his left lung.

And there were 15 total players, so he had to avoid getting lynched 6 times, more if the protector managed to protect anyone. This would normally be vastly biased against the mafia, but it ended up being only a narrow innocent victory.

I know but I thought I should start off with the classic roles of mafia, detective and protector.

    My thoughts:

The game was not well balanced. However, that is not the important thing. What matters is the perception of balance, and I thought I had a pretty good chance up until Renata's reveal. So the potential unbalanced-ness was kind of nulified.

I attacked Split on the first night; did he block me?

I think the players ended up losing interest in the first half of the game, due to delays and three day long phases. Although your scheduling improved towards the end of the game, it was really hard to regenerate intrest in the game.

Although the delays did make it difficult to keep up interest levels, I still enjoyed this game a lot, not least because I actually survived beyond the first few days, which is quite rare.

And I don't know what anyone else made of Lady Weston-Hogues and her clueless kitty, but I had a fun time with the RPing.

The delays made it really hard on me and without the role I had it would have been hard to keep any interest at all. I kept thinking that any given day the game might wind up killed, so it was hard to put any effort in.

A larger mafia team wouldn't have helped in regards to the detective results (assuming I'd still been left alive), but could easily have directed lynches differently if they'd wanted to, given the passivity of most of the players, myself included.

    I loved the roleplaying.

I think its customary to post the role pms after the game is over so:

    Splitpersonality.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Name:Jacob Alexander.

    Aliegence: Town (doctor)

Synopsis: You are Jacob Alexander, Second Heir to the Alexander family, son to Michael Alexander a well known, up and coming, Welsh businessman and head of a widespread Watchmakers company, "catering to the rich and affluent who have always wondered why they have to make do with only 2 diamonds in thier Platinum Pocketwatch". Due to your families widespread influence, including an uncle in the house of Commons, your father had been able to set up shop all over the Empire and even in foreign cities like Paris, Rome and Washington have welcomed him with open arms.
Due to this you have had to knuckle down and strive to become a businessman yourself, seeing as you wont be the one to inherit your fathers estate you had to make your own way in the world. your are currently struggling to set up a store chain of your own in Manchester making fine furniture. Unfortunately a Bachelor's degree in history and Chemistry from Oxford does not a man of comerce make, and due to lack of investors you are down to your last 10 pounds. This reunion party is your best chance at getting support, surely getting one of your old School chum's support is guarenteed. Nothing can go wrong...

    Ability: Heightened observation skills.
In your youth you were always competing with 3 siblings and as such you have developed a knack for finding and deactivating traps, mostly ones your younger brother seemed to insist setting in the toybox. Every turn you can investigate one person's room for any traps and help set up some of your own to prevent anyone from getting in and killing the occupant. You yourself have an permanent 1 in 10 chance of surving an attack but you can choose to protect yourself to turn that into a 100% protection.

    Reneta
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    2.
    Name: Edward White

    Aliegence: Town (Investigator)

Synopsis: You are Edward White, son of a middle class chemist. Your Father read a sherlock holmes novel to you at the age of 5 you have developed an interest in detective investigations. Though you've grown up to take over the family shop you have kept up your interest as during your years at Oxford University you discovered a student run opium ring running in the dormotories. After three months of listening at doors and tailing addicts you managed to steal around 3 pounds of opium and a letter specifying a drop off point signed by James Humphrey the son and Heir of the Baron of Kendal. After gaining the evidence you anonymously left it in the dean's bedroom along with a list of the group's regular meeting places and within a day the group was arrested and the Baron's son only just escaped expultion due to his father's influence. As far as you know he did not discover your involvement but you still have a nagging doubt in the back of your mind to whether or not you will see him again.

    Ability: Amature detective skills.
Your experiences in University gave you a knack for going undetected. Each night you can pick a person to spy on each night and you will gain a report on the person's movements at night.

    Subotan.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Name: William Mackrel AKA James Humphrey

    Aliegence:Mafia

Synopsis: You are James Humphrey son and heir to the Baron of Kendal or at least you were until 4 years ago. You were caught running an opium den on University grounds by the dean and it took your family's influence to keep you from being arrested. Unfortunatly the embarressment caused Oxford to expell you, your father to disown you and your claim to the family fortune to be recinded. Due to your family's long tradition of vicious sibling rivalry your brothers adding insult to injury framed you for mass murder and you were forced to flee to France. With your name sullied and forced into exile by your own blood you went into a serious depression and attempted to kill yourself by setting your home on fire from the inside. This failed as the french police managed to retrieve and extinguish you before death leaving you seriously burned and disfigured.

As a final insult the incident came to the attention to one of your brothers who, to kick you while you're down, sent you evidence that the bust was because an anonymous student had tipped the dean off. The entire series of events that led to your name being besmirched, your future destroyed and your body being scarred beyond recognition had been because of a damned eavesdropper! At this point you cracked, three years of hiding in France, three years of living in shame in an absolute hell made you psycotic and all you thought about was how to make them pay. You hired cheap investigators, blackmailed professors and after a year you had narrowed it down to 10 people, You returned to england after four years of exile with one thing in mind, killing the one who destroyed you.

First on your list was an army officer who was on leave, you sneaked into his house, waited until he came home and stabbed him to death with his own bayonett. When you were making your escape you noticed a letter from one of the others on your hit list Oliver Mallwel, It contained an invite to a reunion for some class you werent in on some island retreat you barely recognise. But it doesnt matter, this is your chance, apparantly all of your targets will be attending and this is not an oppotunity to pass up.

Now here you are, on the ferry to the party posing as an army Captain, scarred beyond recognition in battle "Defending his Royal Magesty's Great empire from savages", now on leave and ready to reunite with friends and remeniss about the old days before being shipped back to india or wherever the heck the poor sod was assigned before you got to him. You dont recognise anyone and you dont particually care if you kill any innocents, your enemies are here and you dont care about anything other than making sure that they pay.

Ability: Your a mafia what are you expecting? You get one kill per night, PM me the target and he dies simple as that.
