    Default Long Hair (for men)

Recently, I and some of my friends are debating about the existance of long hair, and short haired men, and they said that short hair men is a step towards more modern evolution, since short hair requires less maintenace, easier to be kept in order, and require less washing.

And they said that the way I kept my hair, shoulder length, usually kept in ponytail, is too much like a girl.... and when I start to argue that most men had grown long hair in medieval time, and no one questioned their manliness, they said that we should look in today's situation rather than some hundreds of years ago

so... just curious, how did you guys keep your hair...

hobo? why? I think the hobo overrides what was source of male pride for quite a long time, and give that negative connotation...

I'm growing my hair like Shemp from the three stooges (no associates please, with larry perhaps...). I like the old-fashioned look. It's almost at the right length. Looks nice when I put hair tonic in it.

Define Long. I know a guy who had it down to his hips.

Shoulder length isn't that long...but it still can be quite feminine, specially if it's in a ponytail.

    is there something wrong?

And actually I first kept my hair in ponytail out of necessity in Chemistry lab (I study chemistry), since long hair must be tied up in neat fashion, but after that, it was becoming my common hairstyle....

not as that short, but still generally considered short (at upper neck and eyebrows)

I admit a slightly (!) long hairstyle fits me well.

I don't have a hair style. My philosophy is that the longer my hair grows, and the shorter I cut it, the longer time will pass between each hair cut. Right now my hair is pretty short, I just got it to a length that I'd call "military short" last month; though in a few months time it'll be relatively long.

i like it somewhat short, but not too short.

for about half a year i tried growing my hair long to supplement my "rocker" look but it didnt work. my hair grew out, not down.

I'm too lazy to maintain long hair. So I cut it short every month or so.

The men in medieval times also kept nice mustaches and beards. And big swords....That stuff complements long hair well. Without them.....I don't know.
Personally I keep my hair very short. No sweat at all, literally. And very comfertable during the terrible summers we get, and all the sandstorms.

Precisely. Facial hair shouts out to the world "I can look fabulous in a woman's haircut while remaining a concentrated chunk of masculinity". One reason the European colonists so looked down at native American tribes was their unfortunate lack of facial hair. Seeing this blite on humanity, many French fur traders set to work and spreading their hairy visages around, impregnating enough native women to create a whole nation. They did this believing it was on behalf of god, who had a great big beard and no doubt flagellated himself for overlooking an entire landmass unable to grow similar ones. The whole endeavour could be seen as a testament to French romance, as the vast majority of their wives willingly flung their families into the glamourous world of whiskers and beards, unlike the Spaniards, who only terrified the central Americans with deadly sharp goatees and other, curlier hairs.

My hair swept a bit to the side, and looks a bit like a looser mop-top.

Cool store, bro! I want some ham.
    No ham, pepsi.
They make deli slices of frozen pepsi now? Awesome!
You also need to purchase a small freezer for storage of your pepsi.
It runs on batteries. You'll need a few.
Uhh, I guess I won't have pepsi then. Do you have change for a twenty?

That paragraph seems very negative over one of the most fabulous results of racial harmony in North Amerika, but whatever.

Dog-Face was a common name for European fur traders, missionaries, etc. Pretty good name, too.

It's kinda long right now, reaches to over my shoulders. The longest I ever had was when it was wet, it would reach to my belly button.

I usually cut my hair once a month. My clippers are 20mm(3/4in) and I reckon my hair gets about twice that long before I cut it again. I like short hair because there is absolutely no maintenance required(apart from 15min once a month) and my clippers cost me $25 two years ago which means that I have spent $1 a month on hair cuts. I think long hair is pretty girly and looks silly on men, but you can look girly if you want, it doesn't really bother me.

At the front, my hair reaches my chin.
At the side it reaches just below my shoulders.

My hair is mostly just tangled curls + frizz... naturally, it forms an afro!
So it's long AND manly AND fashionable* at the same time!!
Afros can also be low maintenance, particularly if it's naturally like that. It's not a complete thick frizz (solid ball of hair) either, which is great!

    *fashionable being of fickle definition.

Also, I cut my hair annually. Saves money and time. It's been exactly one year since my last hair cut, so this is probably about as long as it gets under normal conditions.
