Default Raising the authority of your king?

Anyone has any tips how to raise the authority of the king?

I assume that a succesful crusade led by the king would help, but other then this? Diplomacy? Conquest? Beating up the rebels?

I've found the thing that works best is fighting. In particular, get your King's bodyguard into the thick of it for a good period in each battle. He will get a good amount of authority from both the scarred line of traits and the brave line of traits.

Taking a quick dive into export_descr_character_traits, I see the following:

    Disciplinarian Trait
    Brave Trait
    Energetic Trait
Rhetoric Trait (lvl 3 up from lvl 2 decreases from +2 to -1)
    PoliticalSkill Trait
    RabbleRouser Trait
    VictorVirtue Trait
    DeceiverVirtue Trait
    Authoritarian Trait
    BattleScarred Trait
    Handsome Trait
    Pragmatic Trait
    Prim
    BattleDread
    BattleChivalry
    StrategyDread
    StrategyChivalry
    FactionKiller
    GoodDiplomacy
    TourneyKnight
    HorseRacer

and so on.... Sorry I'm tired. Some of these come with negative other traits as well, but at a glance many of these can be done through battle. It'd seem that TinCow's advice is best. I didn't look at any of the triggers but I am pretty sure most of the good ones are battle/victory related.

    Good luck!

i use the good ole assassin traits to build my kings stats - he gets a nice amount of dread (good for making your enemies run) and some authority (he also will have a good chance of picking up the deciever traits and get some more that way)

all you need to do is build plenty of assassins and use them.... use them a lot - there are areas on my map where there are no agents at all - my assassins purged them all

Using a diplomat every turn (for a successful negotiation, not gifting), fighting, using assassins/spies, staying in towns with racing tracks/tourneys, using up all movement points, releasing or executing prisoners (not randoming), exterminating cities.

Using assassins/spies works the best for me.

What does Authority affect? I haven't quite figured out yet why this is important.

Does it affect whether an unlead re-inforcement stack has a chance of turning rebel? If not, what does affect this? It's definitely annoying.

It kind of acts as a boost for the loyalty of all your troops.
For captains the chance of turning rebel and for generals/family members the chance of getting bribed away.

Possibly some effect on diplomacy too, but not sure on that one

The loyalty is the biggest thing. It really stinks to have your high valor captain led troops turn on you or a full stack of reinforcements to not make it.
