Post There's More Than Sheep in New Zealand

I think this is important news, and my spur some of our more hard-up Orgahs to consider moving. These sex surveys are a never-ending font of fun.

    NZ women most promiscuous: survey

    October 13, 2007 - 8:34AM

New Zealand women have the most sexual partners in the world, according to a global sex survey reported on Saturday.

They have an average of 20.4 sexual partners, according to a survey by condom-maker Durex - well above the global average of 7.3.

The Durex Sexual Wellbeing Global survey, which questioned 26,000 people in 26 countries, found that Austrians topped the male list with 29.3 sexual partners, more than twice the global average of 13.2.

New Zealand was the only country where women were more promiscuous than their men, who averaged 16.8 sexual partners, The Press newspaper said, reporting the survey.

The survey showed that Austrians were the youngest to lose their virginity at an average of 17.3 years, followed by Brazilians (17.4), Germans (17.6) and New Zealanders (17.8).

Whats funny is that maybe its not that the Kiwi chicks are more sexually active, maybe they're just more honest!!!

It sounds tempting, but is it worth moving to a country with such an awful rugby team?

No, that 29.3 were the Austrian men. In the winter they all turn into skiing instructors doing our girlfriends.

How exactly do these significant discrepancies between male and female sexual activity come up? Is it a higher degree of homosexuality in the more promiscuous sex? Do foreigners make up the difference (in which case globally the sexes should come out even)? Is it the sheep after all? Or are some people just more honest about reporting their sexual activity than others? After all, someone has to be on the other end of the exchange.

This is a good point. For every woman that sleeps with a new sexual partner there is a man that has slept with a new sexual partner (if they were all heterosexual).

I would say that gay men are more promiscuous than lesbians, and that men are more likely to inflate their self reported numbers. This could explain the worldwide discrepancy. Why new zealand is different I couldn't say.

I think it would be down to the fact that some women are easier than others. That is, one woman may have slept with many males, but those males will still have only slept with one female.

That doesn't work though. If you have a population of 10 women and 10 men, and one woman has slept with all 10 of the men while the other 9 women are chaste, the average is still one per person for both genders. And if the other women aren't chaste then the men must have slept with more than one person.

Surely though, if the women are chaste, everyone is too tired?

No offence. But I think the relationships last longer because the womens doesnt have to worry about mens cheating on them. They have to travel a long way to find anything other then sheeps.

(Ive been to NZL. Beutiful country. Fantastic clean air. Strong rugby team... And loved the sheeps.. So plz dont get offended..)

I think the reason that we are is that many parents don't make such a bit issue out of their son/daughter having sex as in a lot of other countries. New Zealand is no longer classified as a Christian country and most Kiwis nowadays don't go to church and aren't very religious, so I think this probably has a lot to do with the more accepting attit.

A little history lesson, in the mid 1800s when NZ was colonised there were more men than women. In the 1860s when gold was discovered here and all the heaps of gold miners came here the imbalance went to quite an extreme. In some places it was up to 100 men to 1 woman. Needless to say the brothels and prostitutes made a lot of money and it's said that even the most hideous girl could find a husband within days of arriving in the country (maybe this time period is where all those nasty sheep rumours came from, but you'd never get a Kiwi to admit it )

Maybe the fact that I know 2 girls who got pregnant at the age of 16 (one who's boyfriend scarpered and the other who's ), and neither were shunned or disowned by their family also shows how we can be quite different from a lot of other places. In both cases the baby is being well looked after and is simply adorable.

Not that I'm advocating teenage pregnancy but maybe you'll understand that here such a thing is not something that destroys families, well, not normally anyway. Families generally just accept it has happened and, since it can't be changed now, are supportive and helpful. Personally I believe this to be a much better alternative than the child growing up being frowned upon by half the town as a mistake that shouldn't have happened.

I kind of got a bit off topic, but hopefully what I said makes sense.

I think you posted while I was making my post before, so I didn't see it.

I'm not sure exactly how truthful that would be. Though many people don't bother getting married anymore and just live together. But I don't really know of any statistics or have anything to compare to. But, contrary to popular belief, we do have cities with large concentrations of people and, in my opinion, it isn't that far to go. Though that's in the North Island, maybe you're talking about the South Island.

That might elicit brownie points for novelty, but I've a hunch it's not a very good pickup line.
