The Princess is a member of the Royal Family of Catholic and Orthodox (not Novgorod though?) factions. When she comes of age at 15, she appears on the campaign map and can be used until she turns ~32 and "retires" as a spinster.
Uses
- A princess positioned in a province owned by another faction will reveal all buildings and troops present in the province. She is less likely to be assassinated by other factions, so she makes for a good (albeit time-constrained) scout.
- The Princess can offer her hand in marriage to cement an alliance with another faction. This is done by dropping the princess piece onto the faction leader or an emissary of the desired faction. She can be married off to the King or heir of another Catholic or Orthodox faction, which will create an alliance. This will remove her from the game, but may result (rarely) in inheriting land in the future if her faction dies off without an heir. If the faction does not have any unmarried family members, or are not Catholic or Orthodox, the princess can still propose and alliance and remain in the game. If the alliance in this form is successful, the princess will gain valour.
- The Princess can also be married to generals of her own faction. This will raise the general's loyalty, as he is now tied into the ruling family. The Princess can be married to her brothers or the faction leader himself, but this will trigger the secret incest vice. (royal uncles?) Marriage in this form will remove the princess from the game.
