    Well, I don't think it will take that long. Think about it. The developers at CA are very familar with the Total War engine, having made two Shogun games already. They haven't just started this game either. According to Gamespy, they have been working on Crusader for quite some time now. I expect an easier transition to this game opposed to the when the original Shogun came out. Those of us who have been around here from the begining, remember when Shogun was supposed to be released in Spring 1999. Instead they scrapped the entire engine and released it in June 2000. I don't expect the same mistake to happen with Crusader. So with all that said. Crusader should be out no later than 2039!

    Personally, when I first see a release date for a game, I look at it like this: For every two months between now and that date, I add another month.

    I've found that most games to be released have their release date pushed back at least twice, most are pushed back more.

    And if I'm wrong and a game is released on schedule, it's a bonus.

    GARCIN: I died too soon. I wasn't allowed time to - to do my deeds.

    Shame I don't buy any more STW products. But my formula used to be:
    Actual Release Date = ARD
    Published Released Date = PRD
    Today = T

    ARD = (PRD^6)* Log(PRD*10^10)-Ln(1/PRD*2)

    Never fails.

    Is that log base 10 minus the natural log?

    Wow... Now you can run some nice charts as to when things will be released. You could put that into a website and charge 1 cent for membership, and rake in the cash and become a wealthy dot-com thousandaire! Heck, that kind of in-depth analysis put in cute little GIFs would make good eye-candy for all the gamers out there that spend every waking minute searching for news on their anticipated-but-much-delayed product. And, you could branch into other product lines as well... say the ARD for the next Kathy Lee CD... But I don't know if that will follow the same formulaic assumptions laid down by your aforementioned theories...

    Aforementioned theories are based on chaos. The whole world is chaos...and chaos is the whole world. Like the Queen and the dodo.

    Q3 2003 is my bet, although CA may well delay it 'till the new-year then delay it 'till Spring due to QA, promise to release it in June, set a final date for August and deliver it in September to the US only, however they loose the addresses of pre-order customers and hold back from putting it on the shelves until they can deliver to their 'loyal on-line fanbase' first, while this happens they find the entire European stock-pile has been kept in mouse-infested warehouses - then completely scrap the project due to lack of funds when Richie Skinner runs away with a bananna to Brazil with all CA's capital and the only remaining copy of the game, which is auctioned in secret in the depths of the Amazon rain-forrest to the foremost players on the planet, finally the kahn wins the day, the others not being able to compete with the bid of 'South-Centeral Asia and 1/2 million mongolian horses' Magyar, after returning home - places the CD into his new state-of-the-art PC (espeacially bought for the event) then to find when he finally gets the game installed, the videos won't run and it crashes whenever you click 'use bovine catapult' in the 'advanced' seige menu, but don't worry - Richie promises a patch for the more obvious historical errors, like the knights templar weilding scimitars on camel-back, Richard Lionheart never ageing, and the 'suicide Saladin' bug, but alls well that ends well...yes?

    I would say year 2003 for CTW is a reaonable guess.

    Should pay more attention to patch v1.13 of STW. However, I doubt the company is interested in doing that as STW is probably over for its profit. 99% of the fans have brought the ex pack and spending the time to make a patch is not really profitable.

    (I happen to be among the 1% who is waiting for the patch )

    Don't see why you think it should take so long when its estimated as Spring 2002 (from what I read). Perhaps you might give it 6 months on that, but I would have expected Autumn at the latest.
    Have you seen the screen shots? Doesn't look like its something thats going to take another 2 years to develop to me.

    further problem is with this summer 2002 date is that we will have limited patching around
