Location: A small cave in Spain, 2009.

Dr. Reginald Fang, the chief anthropologist of the University of Sealand, was taking a well deserved vacation from his professorship. On this particular morning, he was enjoying a small picnic just outside the entrance of a small cave. He had visited here once before to study a cave painting that a local boy had discovered some months back. The cave painting showed a caveman stabbing some sort of wild animal from Paleolithic times. Unfortunately, a mound of rubble from a centuries old cave-in had long ago obscured the target of the caveman’s spear along with any other artifacts the cave may contain. So Reginald sat contemplatively at the edge of the cave, savoring his organic salad and basking in the warm golden sun of southern Spain, until…..

Rumble….Rumble….CRRAACCCKKKKKK!!!!

Centuries of rubble gave way to reveal the long hidden contents of the cave. Astonished, Reginald jumped from his seat and frolicked towards the newly uncovered section of cave. “O what a glorious day!” he shouted. “My colleagues will throw a banquet in my honor and…” CRUNCH! Dr. Fang glanced down to see what he had stepped on and his face wretched with aghastment at the site of the floor. It was littered with a multitude of hominid bones. Still stunned, his eyes wandered up to the now revealed prey of the caveman’s spear…. A fellow caveman….

Location: That same cave, 31,327 B.C.

Sunrise was always beautiful in the hills surrounding the cave. Shaman Woad had chosen this place as his clan’s spring residence precisely for that reason. For many sunrises Shaman Woad had presided over the Townee Clan. He had seen their numbers rise to nearly two dozen over that time. Two dozen fine, upstanding Neanderthals, except for that Ugg. Once again Ugg had gotten himself into a violent quarrel over some small thing. Shaman Woad let out a tired sigh. He would have to sort this out when he returned to the clan. Perhaps he should just try…

Two club blows to the base of his skull ended the Shaman’s thoughts…. For ever.


The Rules

Voting:

All votes must be bolded or they will not count, ex: Vote: Homo Sapien

If you wish to change your vote you must first unvote(and say who your unvoting) before you may place a new vote. Ex: Unvote: Homo Sapien; Vote: Wooly Mammoth.

“Abstain” and “No Lynch” are both acceptable voting options.

If you do not vote in 3 day phases, you will be WoG’d.

Roles:

There will be between 2 to 5 players that need to be killed to achieve a town victory.

There will be several pro-town roles.

Shaman
At the end of every day phase I will randomly designate a person as “The Shaman”. This person has to send me a PM with the name of a player they wish to protect during the following night phase. The person they protect cannot be killed by anyone that night. The protection will be a success even if someone attacks the Shaman. The Shaman may not protect him/herself. The Shaman will lose his powers at the end of the night phase.

Other Stuff

No screenshots of anything. Don’t mess with the tally. Don’t reveal your role outside of this thread or quote any PMs from me outside of this thread (unless I give you explicit permission to do so).

Once you are dead you are not allowed to discuss the game outside of the thread.

pevergreen laid down for sleep. pevergreen felt safe. Shaman may be dead but Shaman did not have Bow-Wow. Bow-Wow keep pevergreen safe.

With these reassuring thoughts, pevergreen drifted off to sleep. By his side, his domesticated wolf, Bow-Wow kept vigil over him. Bow-Wow was alert. Nothing could distract him from the protection of his master….

TWANG!

From the darkness, an arrow flew straight towards pevergreen. The wolf never had a chance to protect its master. The arrow lodged itself in pevergreen’s throat, muffling his cries for help and severing the supply of oxygen to his brain. After a few short moments, pevergreen was dead. The wolf, confused, tried to nudge pevergreen awake. When that failed to awaken him, Bow-Wow began to feast on the still-warm flesh of his ex-master.

Askthepizzaguy was light sleeper. This save him many times from cats with big teeth. He heard crunch-crunch of footsteps. He awake to find man with spear standing over him.

Askthepizzaguy stood quickly to face the intruder. “You try killa me with spear!?” asked ATPG.

“No,” replied the unknown figure, “I do not require this weapon to exterminate you.”

The intruder threw away the spear and set himself into a fighting stance. ATPG felt confident. He was bigger than the intruder. ATPG swung his meaty fist at the intruder’s head, but he nimbly dodged the attack. The intruder grabbed the arm of ATPG and used the momentum of the punch to flip ATPG onto his back. Winded, ATPG kicked out frantically. The intruder easily avoided his frenzied kicks and pinned ATPG to the ground. ATPG attempted to scream but before any sound could escape his lips, the intruder’s hands grasped around his throat, squeezing the life away.

The next morning....

"Two more dead?" questioned a caveman, "Were killed by big kitties?"
"Kitty no can use bow and arrow," replied another caveman, "Killer must be part of tribe!"
"How find out killer?"

The Townee tribe took several moments to to thoughtfully ponder this question. The process of pondering seemed rather painful to them.

"AWWW! Pondering make head hurt! Lets SMASH!!!"

This statement was met with great approval and quite a lot of celebratory smashing. However, it quickly became apparent that this was not getting them any closer to uncovering the killers. An ancient looking Neanderthal spoke up with a new idea.

"I hear tribe over next hill has method to find bad cavemen. Each caveman state who they thunka did it and the majority chooses who to kill. We do that here!"

This statement was met with great approval and even more celebratory smashing.

"What call this?" asked a caveman.
"They call it," replied the elder caveman, "Dem...Dem...Dem-Unga-Unga!"

Sasaki Kojiro looked nervous. He much preferred smashing plan. Smash plan didn’t involve imminent demise of Sasaki.

“Saka,” said the elder Neanderthal, “Tribe use dem-unga-unga. Dem-unga-unga say Saka guilty”

“So I leave tribe now?” asked Saka.

“No. We smash Saka!”

Saka no like smash smash plan either.

Four Neanderthals grabbed their clubs and descended upon Sasaki, ready to beat him into a messy pulp. Sasaki looked about nervously and then darted out the mouth of the cave. The biggest of the four Neanderthals, A Very Super Market, chased after Sasaki with a yell of “SMASH! SMASH SAKA!”. AVSM quickly caught up to Sasaki and with one might swing of his club, severed Saka’s head from his neck and sent it flying over twenty feet. The head rolled into a woolly gopher hole, thus inventing the game of golf. Awed by this amazing display of strength, the other Neanderthal’s took this as a sign to name A Very Super Market as their new Shaman.

Silly Tora (tratorix) stuck in crevice in cave wall. He try to wriggle free but it no use. He hears footsteps from behind him. They no sound like friendly footsteps. A small caveman with a bow and arrow crept up behind Tora. No point waste arrow when he can smack with club. He raised club over his head and prepared to smash.

“Smash!!!” roared out a voice in the darkness.

Did I say thought out loud, thought the small caveman?

Then he turned around and saw the mighty Avasupamaka (A Very Super Market) bearing down on him with a club in hand. After seeing what Avasupamaka did to Saka’s head, the small caveman took off running as fast as possible.

I think the cave-speak is in some ways a detriment to the town- it makes it difficult to have any sort of intelligent discussion, and also provides the mafia with a wall to hide behind. If players are going to continue to roleplay, they have to remember to make sure their posts at least make sense.

That said, I am going to vote: khaan, because he's voting without any real reason. And, I just kind of feel like voting for khaan right now. And, this game has been so slow there's not really another option.

The elder Neanderthal shook his head in amazement. Three tribe members had been murdered the past two nights and the tribe was discussing grammar! Khaan (Shinseikhaan) argued that a more enlightened means of communication was needed to root out the scoundrels who were plaguing the tribe. Yalk (YLC) say Khaan big speaker. Say that make khaan future man. Say tribe should SMASH!!!! future man.

Khaan retorted with a monologue about how proper grammar is conducive to civilized discussions. He argued eloquently for the rights of prepositions, oxford commas, gerunds, and other language related tidbits.

Yalk clunk Khaan on head with big club. Yalk win debate.

Meanwhile, Cudif (Cultured Drizzt fan) was off enjoying some target practice with his throwing spear. Cudif not care for grammar debate. Cudif like throw spear. Cudif saw lone wooly mammoth. He think he be brave, throw spear at wooly big nose. Cudif threw the spear with all his might. The spear soared wide left of the mammoth. Cudif begin to curse but then he see wooly big nose run away. It run off cliff and die! Cudif run to fetch spear. It landed in mouse nest! Little mouskers go “squeak squeak” and scare big nose off of cliff!

When Cudif showed the tribe his kill he left off the part about mouskers. The tribe say he great hero and very brave. They make him Shaman! Avasupamaka angry! He save tora and he forgotten! Avasupamaka sulked off as Cudif celebrated his new found position.

Kao (chaotix) stretched his arms and let out a big yawn. He ready for sleep sleep. He no worry now. Big talker Khaan no more hurt tribe with big words.

Just before Kao closed his eyes he heard the sound of footsteps behind him.

“Who there?” Kao asked

“Ugg KILL!!!” came the reply from the darkness.

Terrified, Kao took off running but in the darkness he couldn’t find his way. He soon found himself in a dead end tunnel. Ugg strode over to the cornered caveman and ran him through with a spear, like a wild beast.

Once again, tora (tratorix) was roaming the cave at night. This time he avoided the skinny crevice and limited his forays to places where he knew he wouldn’t get stuck. Last night was to close of a call.

When tora failed to find what he was looking for inside, he decided to take in some fresh air outside the entrance to the cave. The moon was full and beautiful tonight. Unfortunately for tora, it also provided enough light for the killer to find his target. An arrow whistled out of the darkness and hit tora square in the chest.

“Hello Avasupamaka,” a voice in the darkness called out, “It is time for you to die.”

An arrow whistled out of the darkness but missed its mark. It hit Avasupamaka in his left shoulder. Instead of killing Avasupamaka, it just made him angrier!!! He grabbed his club and charged at where the arrow had come from. There he found a small caveman who was now wielding a club. The small caveman tried to fight Avasupamaka, but quickly realized that he was too strong to be killed in a fair fight. The small caveman fled off into the darkness.

Avasupamaka fixed his wound as best he could and then went to sleep.

Anyway, one thing I would say is to notice that the simple club-wielding caveman who killed Tratorix wasn't given any sort of feature to distinguish himself from the other cavemen, unlike Ugg and the Future Man (who I think may just be a Homo Sapiens).

In that case, there's a chance he might be a vigilante and not actually mafia.

The extra murder suggests that eithier the maifa has gained men or a serial killer has emerged. If there's two famillies then AVSM is still not a CI. His survival could mean that he's scum or else there's a protecter out there somewhere. Since there's no hint of a 3rd person in the writeup I think it warrents a further explanation.

I still find it very uninformative that we have no... "rules/layouts" to refer to.

The starting write up mentions only "Ugg" as the "mafia" so to speak.

I think it is quite possible that the whole "future person" mafia is a red herring...


Thus it is quite possible to believe CDF's claim as with 22 or so players in this game and 3 possible kills (thus far) per night, I think the shaman alone wouldn't compensate, thus there is likely to possibly be a role blocker, seeing as Tratorix is said to be an investigator...

For the third time, the Neanderthals of the Townee Tribe gathered around the entrance of their cave to practice Dem-unga-unga. Many cave men were angry over death of tora. Blame Shaman Cudif (Cultured Drizzt fan) for death. Eventually, Shaman Cudif arrive and explain alibi but he too late to change many minds.

Meanwhile, on a nearby hill top, Ote (atheotes) was banging a rock against a boulder. Ote bored. Ote cast vote early and then left. Too nice of day to spend talking. He come to hill for lone time. However, he find no berries to eat, no game to hunt, no water to swim in. So Ote bored. So Ote bang small rock against big rock all day.

“Hey Ote!” called out one of the Neanderthals, “We make decision. You come down now!”

“Finally!” thought Ote, “No more bored!”

Ote stood up to return to the tribe but tripped and fell into the boulder he had been smashing all day. Then the boulder began to roll down the hill! Boulder roll pretty good thought Ote… but boulder rolling straight at tribe!

“Look out!!!” he yelled.

The whole tribe scattered just in time. Well, almost the whole tribe. Ex-Shaman Cudif had been tied up and had no way of avoiding big rolly boulder. He crushed flat.

Townee tribe think rolly boulder pretty cool. They make Ote shaman for making cool thing. Maybe they find use for it some day?

“Hello,” said the figure, “May I partake in your meal?”

“Yes,” replied Yalk, handing him a slab of meat and a pointed stick to cook it on.

“Do you know what tastes better than roast mammoth?” asked the shadowy figure.

“Mammoth pie?” answered Kwin.

The shadowy figure responded, “I was going to say roast Neanderthal.”

Yalk and Kwin looked quizzically at each other. The figure grinned and then returned to roasting his mammoth kebab. The two Neanderthals also resumed cooking their meal but they continued to look nervously at the newcomer.

“BOO!!!” said the newcomer.

Terrified, Yalk took off running as fast as he could.

“Ha ha! Big fraidy Yalk” laughed Kwin.

The newcomer grinned and then plunged his cooking stick straight into Kwin’s chest. Kwin slumped over onto the fire and began to slowly roast. The figure calmly got up and left.

I still think the future man thing in the kills is completely story fodder/ red herring.

There is no "future mafia" stated in the game rules, heck, only "Ugg" is stated to be as a killer (implied, most probably)

Woad stated we need to get rid of 2 --> 5 people to secure a town victory.

The "future person" killer is probably just someone who doesn't want to write a kill in cave man speech. I fail to see why you are all reilliterating it again when its highly likely to just be a big fake lead.

On the other hand, both kills the previous night phase were made by either, the same person, or the same faction. Both the stories/write ups are continuities of each other, and thus, the first/second killer would have to collaborate to write in essence, the second kill being a continuation from the first. So the conclusion would be that there is either a person who can kill twice in 1 night, or two or more people in the same group (mafia?) who can kill twice a night and have thus been responsible for them so far.

The fourth day of the Dem-unga-unga was a quiet one. The numbers of the tribe had been nearly cut in half over the past four days and the remaining Neanderthals all seemed too shaken by the events to talk.

“Uggh,” grunted Clak (Captain Blackadder), finally breaking the silence.

His utterance touched a nerve with two members of the tribe. It sounded a lot like “Ugg”. This whole mess was his fault! Wait, thought the two, maybe Clack is really Ugg! After all, Ugg must be disguising himself.

With the light amount of participation in the Dem-unga-unga the theory of the two cavemen was enough to seal Clak’s. They descended on him with spears and stabbed him dozens of times. That was the end of Clak.

One of the two cavemen, Ig (Ichigo) approached Shaman Ote and began to wave his spear about menacingly.

“Me Shaman now!” exclaimed Ig.

This is what I meant, yes. There would be a new confirmed innocent every day phase if the mafia could not become shaman.

I really a bit, I feel really lost in this game and completely "not in the clue" so I apologise for my lack of performance, but when you have nothing except "you are townie" as role pm and there are no cases or much of a hint against anyone, there is only so much you can do.

My vote on you actually encouraged discussion but also, it is very weird no one acted at all and could be that you used protection opposed to a kill, weird, yes.

Despite first night without kills in long time, tribe still not feel safe. New cave painting appear on wall in morning. It show caveman stabbing other caveman! Who make nasty picture? Tribe use Dem-unga-unga to find out who. Maybe killers not found yet.

Townee blame Wee (white eyes :D) and Shaman Ig (Ichigo) for painting. Tribe say they use bad reason to vote Clak. Also say Wee has creepy eyes and Ig not talk much. At end of day, vote tied between Ig and Wee.

Several cavemen lit fires and the tribe prepared to continue the Dem-unga-unga into the evening.
